I have a character who is a master swordswoman. She will be offering to train two of my other characters, a husband and wife, fencing.

Or maybe not fencing. Sword fighting.

However. I know nothing whatsoever about this type of warfare except what I see in movies-and I couldn't begin to describe it.

Could anyone help me, please? I don't know what I need, so I don't know where to start. I just know this is a vital part because it saves their lives later in the story, and it also factors in the planet's culture in a few centruries.

thanks ahead of time! I appreciate this!

Either fencing or sword fighting would be correct. Which type of style of swords do your characters use? Eastern styles, like the katana, or Western styles of swords, since that will influence how the swords are used?

Ah, okay. Thanks!

They use western style swords-or I assume so. I know they're not katanas.

Those would likely be Western style swords then.

This is a pretty good resource to start with, I think, and I'm sure others know of other ones that are better.

This one is better since it's writen by an expert, but it has some mild swearing in it.

Well, sort of, I think.... Fencing is only one kind of sword fighting, and it is more of a sport fighting than a practical self defense type, as far as I know.

I don't actually know much about sword fighting either.... :P This article would be helpful for you, maybe, though?

What's wrong with it? * cocks head * :D

Brothers are awesome like that.... :D I used to sword fight with them with sticks all the time when I was younger, and it gives you a bit of a taste of what fighting is like at least, though we were just playing around.

You're welcoome!

Nothing, exactly. It's just isolated and has very little-none-places to learn anything.

Thank you, God, for internet!

Yeah, that's what I thought.... :P Amen. :D I live near a city, but we don't have money for lessons or things like that, so I'm stuck with the internet too (and books).

Money would be the next obstacle, but I haven't had the opportunity to discover that...

Good thing the internet is mostly free!
