The caribou are a staple food for those who live in the chilled northern parts of Yanara. This beast is like a normal caribou in every way,
Quote:
The reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), also known as the caribou in North America, is a deer from the Arctic and Subarctic, including both resident and migratory populations. While overall widespread and numerous,[1] some of its subspecies are rare and one (or two, depending on taxonomy) has already gone extinct.[2][3]
Reindeer vary considerably in color and size. Both sexes grow antlers, though they are typically larger in males. There are a few populations where females lack antlers completely.
Wild reindeer hunting and herding of semi-domesticated reindeer (for meat, hides, antlers, milk and transportation) are important to several Arctic and Subarctic people.

(wikipedia)

There are two species that exist in Yanara, the smaller and whiter dove caribou of the northern tundra and the larger and more gray-brown woodland caribou of the... well, woodlands.

Both are migratory and will move according to the seasons.

Antlers are something that fall out each winter, and will begin to grow back each spring. These now owner-less antlers are used by the Skatros and the Skreeks for decoration, but the Skatros will boil it like one would boil bones to make broth. The one thing that separates the caribou from the story-world and real life is that the antlers have some sort of marrow that makes for a good broth. The Yanarans don't like it in general but the Skatros like the broth with a bit of jack meat and rosemary.

Their meat tends to be a tad gamy as venison is, but Yanarans like strong food.

The caribou are not domesticated. The Yanarans find them difficult to control and prefer to herd the smaller dove caribou if caribou at all.

The Skatros will also follow the herds like Native Americans followed herds of buffalo.

Sounds cool, I can see you've developed how your other races...uh, *can't think of right word so will list a few that sort of make sense* act, react because of, or treat, these caribou...um what I mean to say is, you've figured out what your races do with these things, and what they do in your world, I can see how this will help with the finer details of surroundings, food, etc. Good job!
