One of the seven races in the Arquenia Saga.

Appearance:
Auggers look like large lizards that are able to stand on their hind legs. They generally have green scales. However, if Auggers are around very hot places for extended periods of time, their scales gradually morph from a green color to having a reddish-brown appearance, an effect which can't be undone. They can't regrow limbs like normal lizards and they are also not cold-blooded.

Distinguishing Aspects from the other races.
Auggers are neither male or female but all have the same gender. Instead, all auggers carry eggs inside of them, which only hatches once the augger dies. Generally they only have one augger inside the egg, though twins are not unheard of. Twins occurred more commonly when auggers were first created along with the other seven races.
Auggers also do not eat normal food but eat rocks. They are completely resistant to heat.In addition, auggers gain all the memories of their ancestors before them and cannot forget anything that happened.

General Personalities:
Auggers tend to like to be alone, or only with a few people at once. Because they have all the memories and experiences as their ancestors, they don't see much of a point in sticking around with other people since they don't need the wisdom of their peers as much. Their is one city where auggers have accumulated and grown to work well with their fellow auggers, but generally they live quiet lives and tend to shy away from much company. Auggers can be generally found in volcanos, where there is plenty of rock.

History:
The auggers were created along with the other six races at the foundation of the world. Due to how they reproduce, they populated much slower than the other races and thus were always the small minority among all the races of Arquenia. Six hundred years before the present time in Arquenia, a group of slayers determined to slay the auggers and wipe their name out from all sources because of a strong hatred for the auggers. The slayers did what they could to wipe the auggers name from the books, an effort which succeeded. In due time, the other six races of Arquenia forgot that auggers actually existed and their name passed into legend. Now, auggers live in the far reaches of Arquenia, except for a group of them which have stuck together in an island-city, forgotten and left alone.

Skills:
Auggers are particularly good at metal-making, since they were not hurt at all by heat and thus made excellent black-smiths. They were also well-renowned before their near-extinction as being exceptionally wise, due to their ability to retain the memories of their ancestors. Back in those days, it was one of the marks of the greatest kings of the day to have an augger always sitting in their courts. In addition to these traits, auggers seemed to have an unexplainable knack for being able to make almost anything in very short time if they were given adequate instructions about how to make it.

So Auggers remember everything that their ancestors did? Wouldn't that be incredibly painful (for, throughout however long the world has lasted, they've probably gone through and done terrible things).

Yes. Many times there are very painful events in their past. Hence, most Auggers tend not to delve into the wealth of memories that they always have stored but ignore them, tending to take specific events/skills/things that they want to remember it while leaving the rest untouched. There are some auggers who delve deeply into the storehosue of memories. They typically become tribe leaders or were advisors to kings before they were hunted down because they actually used the wealth of knowledge they have. Most auggers don't delve deeply for fear of what they might find there.

So Auggers have the ability to choose what they remember? Does this make them a very sought after creature in your world?

Yes, they basically choose what to remember (though when trying to remember something of their ancestors, it can be hard to block out unwanted memories.)

They would be very sought after if people knew they existed : P As is, though they were heavily sought after when their existence was acknowledged, people think they were creatures of myth and never actually existed.

So that is why few Auggers choose to access their knowledge, because they run the risk of remembering the bad memories. Is that right?

Well. Most Auggers tend to access their memories for a lot of things early on (like how to talk, survive in the wild, etc.), but not much beyond the simple things. They generally will access it at some points in their life, but not very often, and not unless they absolutely need to (except for those who make it a goal to access most of their memories). There are too many scarring memories that they could accidentally access.
