First of all, I do not own a video game console of any kind. I've played a few free online arcade-style games, and I've played Wii Sports at a friend's house, and that's all.

However, I have a fascination with video games. I'm kind of amazed at how beautiful and realistic the game mechanics are getting, not to mention the beautiful scores on some of them.

I keep track of new games by reading Focus on the Family's Plugged In Online. In the Video Games section, I read this review of a new downloadable-only game called Journey. It sounded so interesting that I looked on Youtube and found a playthrough video. Here's the link if you want to watch it---the game is rated E.

Well, it was interesting. And epic.
There was no dialog at all, yet there was a feeling of deep meaning behind the journey. The scenery was beautiful, even breathtaking, and the musical score was ethereal and uplifting. The game is art.

Has anybody played this game? Heard of it? If so, please discuss it here. :)

Have you gotten to play it or watch a playthrough yet? It's a really cool game.

It's an amazing, emotional game. It's told completely without dialog, leaving much open to interpretation.
Wonderfully, it's also clean. Rated E. :) No bad language (no words at all ;)) and no gore, or anything.

So it's a Wii game, right? I think I understood that correctly. :D

I think it's only for the PS3. :bawl:

But maybe it's also on other systems? *is hopeful*

I've actually watched two different playthroughs, and I'm itching to watch a third. (Video games are like movies that are different every time; nice, huh? ;))

So, now that we've seen it, let's discuss it, shall we?

Isn't that world fascinating? Obviously something happened that left it empty and desolate.
The feeling of loneliness is so deep, in fact, that you just run up to the first person you see, and you're instant best friends. But you can't talk. It's like there's a language barrier. Yet, somehow, you don't need to speak. You just need to be there for each other.

I love the way you fly. I'd love to be able to fly like that: just take a running start and glide in a long leap through the air. :)

I saw the same review on Pluggedin. And I watched a walkthrough by some guy who sounds like my brother (slight language, though). It is emotional . . . even for a person who's not playing. It's amazing how addicting it is, even to watchers. ^_^

The music is absolutely amazing. Don't you love it? Perky with one song, sad and wistful with another . . . actually, the whole thing is rather wistful, with a simple, curiosity and contentment woven in somehow.

The desert is absolutely beautiful. Shifting golden sands, the mountain, the flying carpet-creatures . . . it feels lonely, but again, there's a strange feeling of peace and contentment. And I loved the city. I wonder what it was like before it sank beneath the sands. Why did it disappear? It's like going underwater, even though you know your character's still breathing air and walking on sand. It's just mysterious, haunting, and murky . . .

And also, I love the idea of communicating through musical notes, and working with another player. You can't say anything . . . but you work together.

Anyway, I love what I've seen and heard of this game (as I'm sure you've seen). :D

I heard that some gamers began crying because of how much the game moved them. The game resembled life and the perilous journey through it, and the obstacles and how slow it goes, yet the game is pretty short. But I so want to play it! The music is beautiful, the ending is epic and sad and peaceful and rewarding. There was this one person who did a commentary walkthrough and he was just talking throughout the whole game and it sounded like he was taking the game so seriously and that it was the best game ever and just saying how amazing the game was.
I will try to find my friends who have a PS3 and then I will ask them to buy the game so I can play it after they do. lol
