This race of people is a mixbreed of a human and a giant bat. The offspring turn out to be humans with batlike wings, black hair, bat fangs, batlike echolocation, and claws of nails. Pretty creepy  :D
Tell me what you think, I would appreciate it.

Hmmm, that would be interesting. Bats and humans.
I'll throw a couple of names out, but I'm not usually very good at making names:
Avuhl
Kyavin
Gaethin
Mauranane
Ciar
Hope it helps.
Some are of my own making, others actually mean something in other languages.

I have a creature almost exactly like that. :D But from you description mine's different from yours.

I really like the name Avuhl. Is that one that meant something, Griffin?

Actually I made that one up. It comes from a naming system I made to help me make names. In my system it would mean something like dark sky.

Kinda creepy Kenton D., but in a good, fantasy type of way. So do they favor people or bats? It sounds like they are very human in appearance; they just have the added wings and sensory type characteristics.

What causes this breed of Halfling race? Is it like a genetic defect, or is it the ‘you were bit by a vampire’ type of scenario? In other words, people bit by the bats that carry the gene cause a mutation to occur in the carrier (human) and the carrier has a batish child? Just curious, if that makes sense.

The Halfling race started from a giant bat having a child with a woman that it had kidnapped(weird and creepy). They favor humans and are friendly to most humans. The ones the Avuhls don't like, will often die mysteriously(muahahahaha). :D

Okay, that is really creepy, in like a disgusting kind of creepy way. :D You must have been a strange child. Don’t sweat it though, I was too, and I’m perfectly normal. I mean, I talk to myself, join Fantasy Forums that talk about Bat and Human’s procreating, and make fantasy names out of street signs. Nothing weird here. :D

Really cool concept, I was thinking of something similar. What sort of culture do these people have? And how could a bat procreate with a human (thinks) sorry ingore the last question I really don't want to know...

They have a clanlike culture where there is one "chief" and a council under him/her. For the thinking question, the Avuhl's inherit the human brain, therefore having the same brain capacity as humans.
