Seer mentioned that if I had an uninhabited continent he would strongly recommend I have a reason. Well, I do. It resembles Antarctica.

Lying on the other side of the treacherous north sea, for a while it was only marked as a possibility, a sighting by lost sailors. About the time of the third age the coastline was charted, but no further exploration was conducted, as it was deemed too dangerous and impractical. (Being frozen ice and snow and all.)

Only when Tannis is banished from his homeland at the end of the fourth age does anyone learn what lies beyond that coastland. Determined to win back his throne he turns to the only place he can go, within the law. Most of the continent is as barren and wasted as navigators predicted, but it is also a place of wild beauty and a strange magic.

For the land is inhabited.

Tannis finds an old mage and his only daughter living atop a mountain. She can control water unlike any of the Elloi, and Tannis begged her to return with him to Elleys, but she refused. After receiving a prophecy that will return him his throne, and eventually bring about the downfall of all that he stood for, Tannis reluctantly leaves the northlands for the mortal world.

He never told anyone of what he saw, and his knowledge died with him.
Nothing more is known of the exploration after the passing of the fourth age.

What are the indigenous fauna (and flora, if any) of the Northlands?

There isn't any at present, since the continent isn't explored to any extent until the fourth age and most of my development is concentrated on the second and third. But I have some vague ideas for creatures that I'll have to think about.

No... that story got stuck and stayed stuck. They're half the problem. I could only get the plot to a certain point before it would start getting confused. Of course, I never worked on it very seriously. Sometime in the future after I finish Prince of Yen, I suppose I'll be coming back to it. :D
