Alright, I have a question concerning my recent edits. I’ve got a number of people wanting me to do some edits for them (you may or may not have seen these edits). I have a lot of other responsibilities and time constraints, but I do enjoy working with everyone and going through their stories to give them a reader’s perspective. I’ve also had some background in editing, so it helps me to draw from those experiences.

My question is, could I post a thread specifically dedicated to people posting what they would like edited, or would someone have a better idea? My reason for wanting a specific place to do the edits is so that I would be notified when someone wanted another story excerpt edited. This will help me to manage my time and make room for the editing process. Right now I have to check all the other posts to see who has requested editing, or check my PM box.

Like I said, I enjoy the work and love the satisfaction an edited piece brings to the author of the manuscript. I’d love to keep doing it; I just think it would be easier to have a specific place for the editing process. I’d love feedback and any suggestions.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

That is precisely what the Holy Worlds Editing Folders are for. Check the Announcements room (I think) for more details. :)

I keep hearing about these folders. I must not be understanding everyone, or I’m just not an observant person (probably the latter of the two). Where are these folders? I went to the Announcement page and didn’t find anything on editing folders.

Soo... You have to have a Gmail account to get on there (besides being given access)? :?

I wouldn't mind you editing my "Untitled" story, Airianna...it needs work! :D You can find it in story excerpts under Zaciré Book...the thread has a link to the Google Docs link. :)

I’d be honored. I'll take a look tonight when I snuggle down in my bed. That's when I do the majority of my work. :D

The other nice thing about having a gmail account is that you can give select gmail users access to certain documents. I believe it's called document sharing or something. Then it's pretty much like you're giving a copy to your friends to edit. (Personally, I want to know exactly who am I giving my writing to, and giving it to a group of people that I don't know is a bit scary. But that's just me.)

Airianna, you can also sign up to be notified whenever a reply is posted in a certain thread. There's a little button towards the top left corner of the thread's page that says "subscribe to this topic". You will then get email notifications whenever a reply is posted in that thread. You could do this with the threads where people are posting the writing that you will be editing.

You don't have to have a gmail account to use the google docs folder... but it is advisable and preferred. It seems to work better. :)

'Sides... gmail is the best. :D

Thanks for the advice Evening. To be honest up until two weeks ago I'd never been a part of a forum. This is all new to me.

Ah. And I am inclined to agree. Do you have to have an email address at all, because I use my mom's (I know, I know, I'm working towards getting my own. ;))?

Yes you have to have an email address, but using your mom's will be fine with us, as long as it is fine with her. :)
