Jay has posted an intro to this topic (here). He explains how to get set up and where to post your files. Once you are set up with Google Docs you'll need to PM Jay to get access to the shared folder "Holy Worlds Revision Folder."

If you are uploading your file for critique:

Step One: Left click "Upload" in the upper left corner.

Step Two:
A) Drag file into checkered box that says "Drag and drop files here."
or
B) Left click "Select files to upload," choose your file, then click "Open"

Step Three: Make sure the box "Convert...to Google Docs" is checked in order to allow us to edit it. (This will be checked automatically.)

Step Four: Left click bottom left box "Destination collection" and choose the folder under "Collections Shared with Me" > "Holy Worlds Revision Folder"

Step Five: Choose your privacy level by clicking the box on the right either:
A) Public on the Web
B) Anyone with the Link *
C) Private

*Since The Fireside is only open to members you are safe to choose this option and then provide the link in your critique request posted in The Fireside. Choosing private will make people sign in to access your file.

Step Five: Left click "Start Upload." If a green arrow is next to your file, it has uploaded.

Step Six: Click on your file and when it opens click on "Share" in the top right corner. A box will appear in the center with a highlighted blue link. This is the link to your file. Right click and copy this into your thread request in The Fireside using the html code for URL. Open link here.

An example of how I used code to share the link is:(minus quotation marks)

You can access this on Google docs here.

If you just want to store it on Google Docs without messing up your formatting, uncheck the box that says "Convert file...to Google Docs format" in Step Three.

*This is important to note because if you upload your file with this box checked, make changes while it is on Google Docs and then download it back as a Word file your formatting (double space and indentation) will be gone.

For this reason I suggest only uploading files for critique with this box checked. Once people make comments on your file open up that file on one side of the screen and your original on the other. Make changes as necessary to the original and then upload that if you need any more critiques. You can upload it for storage too, just make sure to uncheck that box.

Thanks, Tim - that looks great! :) Actually, I went in to edit your URL down at the bottom to remove the quotation marks, then realized that was why you had them in! Anyways, thanks for posting this.

This is so helpful, Tim. Just what we needed!

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.
