This isn't an important question; I'm just trying to understand the mechanics of everything. Why is Lady Lilly's name italicized under the Registered Users at the bottom of the forum? I've noticed other people's names italicized before, and I'm starting to wonder if it has to do with being the new kid on the block because Lady Dusk's name was the same way until Lady Lilly came along. Like I said, it isn't an important question, I'm just curious.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

A user can set a preference on their profile to be "hidden" when the log on. I believe that means that only other users can see their name when they are logged in. So an italicized name means that user is "hidden".

I was just considering posting on this! Hmm, that is interesting.

Great minds think alike Shawn ;)

So they are hidden, just not from us?

Hey Everyone,

Thank you for bringing this up, actually. We are changing the permissions on this feature right now. From now on, the only people who will be able to see italicized names (aka, hidden people) will be the Marcher Lords and Jay. Otherwise, from Moderators on down to users, the names of those people will not be visible to you, though it will show at the bottom that one or two or how many ever 'hidden' users are online at the moment. Does that make sense? :)

Yes, it does. One more clarifying question. Will the Marcher Lords and Jay still see their names italicized so that we know they are hidden?

It helps us keep track of who is on and who is not. That way, if we need to deal with things or situations with certain people, we are aware of how often they are on and when we can catch them. There are multiple reasons that we still need to see them, just for the overall operation of the Forums. But, the users that employ that handy feature often would like people not to see them, for whatever reason. I will go hidden so that people I know don't PM me constantly when I am trying to work on items. Some people may simply want others not to know how much they are online, etc. So, while we strive to protect their option to do that, we have to keep it visible to those of us who handle permissions and over all actions of users on a daily basis.
