Have a question about the Realms Beyond? Post it here, or check below for a few common questions:

Who has permissions to do what?
Only owners of the sub-forums can post new threads in their subforum. Each owner of a sub-forum has moderating permissions (moving/stickying/deleting) over his/her own sub-forum.

What about the threads I've already posted?
Many users have threads already existing in other parts of the forum. Copying threads is all right, and moving them is not recommended (although not strictly forbidden).

Where is the fine line between world development and story development?
Some have asked if there is content that shouldn't be put in the sub-forums. For example, threads relating to your story are technically part of your world, since they take place in it. A thread to develop a last name for your main character, on the other hand, would be best placed elsewhere in the forum.

So can I post stuff about my story or not?
Yes, you can. We've changed some of the criteria recently, so while world-building is still the main focus, you can also post information about your writing which takes place in the world, and the characters in that writing. In other words, if it takes place in your world, it's fine in Realms Beyond.

If you have any other questions about the Realms Beyond, feel free to post them here; we'll do our best to answer them.

I'll qualify that answer by saying that there are obvious topics like character-profiling threads that are better posted in other rooms, but other than that, include as much in your subforum as you desire. :D

Isn't a character part of a world though? :P :dieshappy:

Just wanted to update this thread to mention that what Seer has brought up is now explicitly a part of the Realms Beyond rooms. In other words, you can now post character development, etc directly alongside the worldbuilding content as well.

Hey! I have a quick question. When people change their usernames, is it possible to change the subforum thing that says who it is created by? I suppose what I am trying to ask is if you can change the 'created by' to my new-ish username?

I think that would be easy for anyone with ML powers and up... PM either Andrew or Seer and they can fix it for you. :)

That's an easy fix. I'll do it. You want yours changed, Azzie?

I changed yours, Azzie. Anyone else want one done while I'm at it?

Oh, thank you Airi! I was going to pm someone about that, but I didn't even have to go anything! Thanks again!

This may have been asked in another thread, but I can't seem to find it. My question is, who can see these posts? Do you have to be a part of the forum? I trust the people who have joined not to steal anything, but I'm afraid I don't trust someone who's just browsing through the internet.

When your sub forum is set up, Eruheran can either set your sub forum so that only members on Holy Worlds can see your sub forum, or he can set it so that anyone can see it. So it's up to you, if you don't want anyone but forum members to see it, Eruheran can set it that way. I have mine viewable by members only. :)

Let me get this straight. You can post about culture, language, myths and legends... your fictional world's history maybe?
You can talk about your story's characters? What you are writing about? Story line? Plot? Are those things allowed in sub-forums?

You can find some helpful info here: viewtopic.php?f=65&t=1950

Basically you meet the criteria on that thread and PM Reiyen and convince him that you must have a subforum. ;)

Hope that helps. :D

Post subject:  Re: Realms Beyond Q&A

@Wolf: You click on the thread you want to sticky. When you scroll down to the end of the page, there should be a little dropdown menu on the left side. There will be an option for 'change to "sticky"', which you'll click and hit 'go'. There might be a 'Are you sure you want to change this to sticky?' question, then you'll hit 'yes'. And that's it. :D

Oh thanks Elly! I do have it all figured out now, though. The problem was that I didn't have the necessary permissions yet, but now I do. :D Thanks for the answer.

Author:  Elly [ June 19th, 2012, 2:15 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Realms Beyond Q&A

Sure, how about another answer, too? :D

There should be the little dropdown menu - box at the very end of the topic you want to unlock - "Quick mod tools", it's called. Drop it down and you should see an option that says "Unlock topic". Click it. It'll take you to another page, probably saying "Do you wish to unlock this topic?" Click yes and then it'll redirect you to another page, saying "This topic has been unlocked". It'll have options to view the topic you unlocked or return to your sub-forum. :D

Thanks! I figured out with Raven's help that I don't have that option for some reason. :( So I'm a bit confused about it... :P

Question: how much information is considered enough? I know my subforum won't go public until it has enough information. But how do I know when I've written enough? :/

There's not really any real guide. Just when you feel you're ready and once you've got a few threads and more information than you started out with! :D

So, to clarify, your realm moves out of the 'Realms in Development' section when you think it's ready to go public?

My guess is Elanhil. Since he's in charge of this area, PM Elanhil Ion-Mimetes with any questions/requests and he'll be sure to have an answer. :D

Correction: You do not ask to have your forum made public. Elanhil will tell you when you're ready. However, I do realize he's not on much these days. What would be best would be to ask one of your mentors (the people posting in your forum) if they think you're ready. If they agree that you are, then go ahead and PM Elanhil and say x person thinks you're ready, would he mind taking a look?

Ooops. *already sent a PM* I'll have to go ask one of the mentors now and send another PM...
