Hi, I'm super new. My account just got activated today and I'm really excited to meet you all. I've been writing fantasy for about thirteen years now, but I only just finished a novel I think is publishing-quality.

Ahoy there! Welcome to this fair realm!

Wow! That's a long time! How much of that was spent on writing said novel?

It sounds like you really enjoy the fantasy genre, is that correct? What are some of your favorite authors/books?

Welcome to Holy Worlds! And congratulations on finishing a novel that you plan to publish. :D Are you going to aim for traditional publishing or try self-publishing it?

I do really enjoy it. I also love sci-fi, and have considering writing a novel or two in that genre, but my first love is fantasy. I've spent the last five years working on this project, mostly because I've taken a big learning curve in my knowledge of fiction writing, and had to keep rewriting to reflect my improved skills.

My favorite writers are Ted Dekker, Lewis and Tolkien (duh), and H. G. Wells. I have to admit, I haven't read much modern fiction, except Ted Dekker, and certain popular YA dystopia series. But I'm trying to fix that. I know I should read in my genre.

I am planning to self-publish. Hopefully in 1-1.5 years I will be posting that The King's Children is available as a free ebook on Amazon et al. I'm a penniless student just now, so I don't have the funds to hire a cover designer or get a website up and running.

I hope working on it goes well for you. :) Is your novel set in another world?

Yes! I love world building. My novels are set in a world called Desylvar, and my current series mainly takes place on the continent of Caladavan. Not that those names will mean anything to anyone, but there they are. I have other series planned that will take place on different continents in Desylvar.

I like your place names. :) Worldbuilding is one of my favorite parts of writing fantasy.

Approximately how many words long is The King's Children?

The King's Children is just shy of 87,000 words. And yes, I'm sure I'll be posting about it.

That's a good length for a fantasy novel. I look forward to hearing more about it. :)

That is a pretty good length!

World building can be a lot of fun! Is there a particular area of world building you enjoy most? Hopefully we'll have the opportunity to get to know Desylvar and the lands within!

Welcome! *is late to the party*

I think I like world building and writing backstory more than actually writing. :D I just get a huge kick out of creating some totally new galaxy, planet, etc.

Do you have (m)any other works in progress? I must admit, I'm not a big fan of fantasy writing, although I enjoy reading it.
