Hey!

So, from what I read, this is the part where I introduce myself, and so I shall attempt to do so. Okay... here goes.

I am not a proficient writer. (Please do not kick me out for saying that.) Most of the time I write (outside of school) is akin to doodling, and thus the name. As for my other reasons to write- 1, Jesus used stories to teach, and that worked (although it also could be noted that the meaning was hidden from unbelievers); and 2, stories are a powerful way to influence the thinking of others.

I am kind of trying to follow in the footsteps of Jules Verne in writing stories that predict (kind of) where science is going, or could be used, should be used, or how I wish it could be used.

So that covers the basics, I guess.

See you around!

NOT A PROFICIENT WRITER! *shuns*

Just kidding. It's great to have you, Doodle. :D I'm Riniel, or Kitra, or Jazz, or some variation thereof. Welcome aboard! Have a taco. :D

I'm afraid the only Verne I've read is Around the World in Eighty Days, but it is really excellent. I heard part of Mysterious Island as an audio book and very much liked it as well.

Do you have any particular genre of interest? Who are your favorite authors? What sort of world-building do you like to do?

I look forward to seeing your doodles and your input on the flurry of interesting topics about the place. :D

Welcome to the forums! I hope you have enjoyed your stay so far and I echo Balec in the fact that it is nice to see a new face around. :)

Phew, we were afraid you were perfect writers like the rest of us! ;) Kidding, I'm not a very good writer either, but one thing I've noticed is that we writers tend to be over critical of our own work. :)

Verne is one of my favorite authors so I look forward to seeing some of your stuff. I haven't seen very many people try to follow his style so it should also be "unique".

On top of Kitra's questions, what are some of your favorite non-writing activities?

Not a proficient writer, non-writing activities... What will they think of next?

Hi again. Yesterday was the 4th of July, and I am a U.S. resident...

End excuses.

Concerning sports: I run cross country.

Concerning authors: God, Jules Verne, Trenton Lee Stewart, Stan Lee, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are some of my favorite authors.

Concerning genres: I would place the mystery genre as a subcategory of science fiction, (for simplicity and other reasons) and then go with sci-fi.

Concerning Verne: I can'r say that I am trying to follow his style of writing but rather the concept of looking at science and saying, "This would be really cool if this developed into this, and it might actually happen."

Concerning non writing activities: reading; actual doodling; reading; piano, and video production.

It is good to meet you all.

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Then, maybe Jael and her tent peg or Ehud the left-handed.

 Kindred spirit, hullo! I flippin' adore Trenton Lee Stewart, a man who writes like he's British and lives in Arkansas, and I hardly ever find others who have read his stuff too. XD Also Verne and Doyle are by far my favorite "classics." And Stan Lee...just... ^_^ Yes.

o.O Oh wow. You like the weird ones, don't you? The story of Jael always leaves me queasy, but Ehud the Left-handed Benjamite is one of my pastor dad's favorites, so...

It's good to have you, Doodler! Welcome to HW and I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay and that it is long and prosperous. Feel free to explore and ask a multitude of questions. We're always more than happy to help and if we don't have the answers, we can at least point you in the right direction. ;)

And you might just be speaking to the queen of non-prolific writers here, so no worries. I'm Caeli/Kay/Bones around here and I have more good intentions of writing than I have finished projects to show for it. XD

What inspires you to write most? Other stories, pictures, prompts, music, something else?

I love music, although it usually is words that inspire me to play music. I would say science (and speculative science-y stuff) are a great inspiration. I also draw/doodle (working on it) and then try and figure out what's going on.

Mm, a writer after my own heart. Scribble a paragraph here, dabble a plot point there, type up a character sketch elsewhere. Loads of neat little moments and no stories in which to store them.
Doodles are welcome here! I hope to see your scribblings up and about the forums. With your interest, be sure to check out our Sci Fi forums especially!

I don't have a deviant art. I don't really care much for the name, although I do think as a Christian my art should deviate from the culture's norms.

PS I took a look at the SciFi theology forum and I am quite important impressed. Actually, I am quite impressed with the whole site...

Welcome, friend. :P

It's cool to learn a bit more about you. I guess I never had the opportunity to ask those questions irl before. :)
Glad you made the jump into this pond. Now the only thing necessary from this point on is to just keep swimming. ;P
