Greetings all,

Part of the future of Holy Worlds includes the addition of a sister site dedicated to Sci Fi. We are thinking of calling it Holy Cosmos (or Holy Planets), but suggestions for other names are welcome. We won't be starting it this week, or next week, but it won't be months into the future either.

That means we need people. We need to know about how many of you are going to be joining over there as well, as well as how many of you are willing and able to help in making it work.

Basically we need Marcher Lords (probably going to be called something else over there though) who are mature and have the time to dedicate to it. We also need a Head Marcher Lord who will be able to make sure everything is going right and field questions when I am not there.

Web designers and coders would also be appreciated. We also want people who are primed and eager to start posting like mad when we get on, as well as publicizing it.

In other words we can use you. Just to let you know. ;) So post here letting us know what you can do in that regard.

With joy and peace in Christ,
Jay Lauser aka Sir Emeth Mimetes

I may be able to help in this regard, but I'm afraid that I'll either end up spending time on both of these in shifts, as I don't particularly take to writing more than one story at a time. Also I am not too familiar with the sci-fi genre, even though I have written some in the past. I could, I suppose try and develop two worlds at once, one sci-fi and another fantasy, although fantasy would come before sci-fi for me. Because of this, I suspect the greater amount of my time would be spent on Holy Worlds rather than Holy Universe (eruheran's idea for the forum name).

Thanks Jay!

I will definitely join it (I like the name Holy Cosmos) but I can't commit to being a mod or anything. My time for forums comes in spurts. :)

I like the name Holy Cosmos too.

I wouldn't really do anything on it (I don't write Sci-Fi) so I can't offer to be a mod or anything, but I can offer my meagre Photoshop, HTML, CSS skills, if there's any reason you need them. Just drop me a PM or something. Will Holy Cosmos have the whole blog/website thing like Holy Worlds, too? And will this Head Marcher Lord be the equivalent of the admin, or will you admin both sites?

Alright, I will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Yes, it will have its own home page, blog, and forum. I will be the final authority on both, but each will have their own head ML (like White Raven is the head ML here).

hmmm....I love the idea of a separate sister forum for Sci-Fi.

But do we really want to call it Holy Cosmos? Maybe it's just me being silly, but that sounds to me kind of like "holy cow!" or "holy smokes!"

I DO like holy planets a little better.:D

And I'd be there to post! Probably not like "mad" since I don't usually EVER post like mad. But I'd be happy to contribute.:D

I'm not really into writing sci fi things, but don't cross me of the list yet. I do watch some TV shows on the SyFy channel ;)

Just becuase, I came up with a few more names if you needed any more... too much time with my Thesaurus

Holy:
Cosmos
Planet
Globe
Realm
Sphere
Heavens
Universe
Space

That's about it

I like "Universe: Christian Sci-Fi Forum". But Holy Spheroids has a certain ring to it as well. ;)

I love sci-fi... and I squeezed Chasms into HW even though it's technically more sci-fi than fantasy... so expect me to show up quite a bit when I have writing/forum time. :D

How about Holy Galaxies? you know, like 'a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away'? ;)

Or maybe you could just do Holy Worlds: Christian Sci-fi Forum because "worlds" applies to both genres. (which are actually very close to each other, IMO!)

Oh wow... *cracks up laughing*

I've never written Sci-Fi, and I don't know much about it, but I could probably be a Marcher Lord over there anyway if you would like. It would be interesting to learn more about another genre anyway. I want to try something other than fantasy one of these days, but I don't know much about other types of stories.

Ya'll are hilarious.
I'm trying to switch to Scifi but this forum is dragging me back into fantasy, but if there were another forum, for scifi I've got plenty of questions, ideas, theories, novels and short stories I could use to post like mad. And I will too, if you want me too. We could even combine duties, and use a scifi forum to help with the Debugger project. :D

Speaking of which, I intend to try and convince you to take a key role in helping lead said forum.

Ok, so I've thought it over, and I would gladly go into the Sci-Fi forum! Whatever you need-- I'll try to be there. :D

Jay, I'm up for mod-ing or whatever you need on "Holy (insert word here)".

As you probably remember, I am planning on writing a time period in one of my worlds which is effectively a space opera with a scale of detail exceeding Star Wars. (And I'd like to think I'll be more original.) So, I'll be using Holy-Whatever quite a bit.

"Holy Spheroids" sounds like something Robin would say to Batman.

"Great Iron Bars, Batman! We're trapped!"

haha! Convince away. I'm not half as busy as you or Alex or Lady Esmerelda and I feel left out... besides, today's my birthday and I got a little figurine of Spock which inspires me to great scifi heights! :D

And I posted here as soon as I found it, wondering how I missed it.

I do not understand how you can be older than me and yet not busy... ;) I wasn't busy until about a year ago. Now I'm busy. ;D

Hey, I know what you mean. I didn't understand the meaning of busy before this year.

Anyway, you should help out, Janin. Besides, Spock would want you to. It would be illogical not too.

How about 'the Holy Universe' since sci-fi generally takes place in this universe, unlike fantasy. I also had a good idea for Marcher lord names...Galactic General...It has a ring to it. (sorry, eruheran, should have posted sooner{I stole that name from him}) :D

I was thinking that since HW is based off of a castle, we would base Holy whatever off of a star ship, with a bridge and officers and etc.

Happy birthday Katie! If you hang around with me long enough, you will discover the true meaning of busyness most assuredly. ;)

I'm always a little behind people of my own age. I feel busy, until I meet people who are literally running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Last year, even with theatre, even when I was at my busiest, I was nowhere near as busy as some of you people. :D Which I'm sure makes Jay chuckle and rub his hands with glee because that means I have more time to spend on helping on his projects than people who are really busy. :D

Happy Birthday Katie! :)

Well, I guess when school starts, I'll be busier than I am now, but I will definitely have lots of time to dedicate to HW and the new Sci-Fi one! :D
I can offer myself as an Editor, Marcher Lord, Web designer (though I'm probably not that good) or mad poster!

Is there anything us Holy Worlder's can do to help make the Sci Fi forum's debut sooner? I'm a bit excited over this! :o

Happy Birthday Katie! :) :)

I haven't written any sci-fi stories, but I do like to watch shows like Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. I also enjoyed the Star Trek movie... so I guess I am some-what of a Sci-fi lover ;)

If you need any help, I'll do what I can :)

Actually there is a lot you can do. :)

Work on the HWCS.

Serious! Right now I am dedicating a bunch of my time to getting that started back up again, and if a bunch of you jump in and pitch in and help out with that, I would have time freed up to dedicate to sci-fi forum making.

Does that make sense?

This might sound pretty bad, but HWCS is the Holy Worlds Community Story right?

Ooh! Anything you need me to do, Jay? The Elves don't needs as much work, now that we won't see much of their world.

Yes, actually! We are moving into the next stage: character and plot development. I am writing up the new synopsis and should get it posted tomorrow. Then we need to take the underdeveloped sections and make subplots, develop characters, etcetera like crazy. :)

Not sure how much help I'd be in the HWCS... I saw that topic a while ago, and I left the topic looking like this:

I, too, left the HWCS pretty confused. But it helps if you can see the stuff on Google Docs. Anyways, not sure how much help I'd be just jumping into the middle of it. :)

But that is exactly what we want you to do: jump right into the middle of it! :D

I will be posting the new synopsis, as well as new threads for each of the characters and events that we need to develop. You guys can start reading those, and start asking questions and having ideas.

What we need are summaries of background development from the google docs posted in the forums so that the character and plot developers know what they are developing in.

OK, I'll go over there. Sheesh. :D Just kidding. I'll try to help with character development, I'm pretty good at that. And you should be a salesperson

I LOVE sci fi, and I actually wrote a sci fi script in April that I want to develop more. So I will definitely join and post as copiously as possible.

Ever since I quit my sci-fi story, probably all I would do is give feed-back, which I guess is important. Bytheway, how far along is this?

It will be a few weeks before it becomes reality, in any case. :)

I haven't read much sci-fi and don't know much about it, but I'll probably join when the website is started. With one more tough year of school to go I probably wouldn't have much time to dedicate to both forums though. Still, I'll try to get on and help as much as I can.

Speaking of the community story, I'd love to help in any way I can. It seemed really confusing though, so I don't really know where I would start. Any suggestions?

And we would love to have you! Check out the Foreground forum, and read the synopsis and the character thread for Gamma. You should have access to the google docs folder, so you can also read stuff in there. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm so thrilled that there's going to be a sci-fi forum!
Perfect timing in bringing this up; lately I've had a new interest in sci-fi, and now I have the basic idea for a story which fits into this genre.
I'll be there! :D

By the way, I like the name Holy Universe best. ;)

Yeah, I think I like that name, now.

Holy Cosmos can be the umbrella name for the joint forums.

Wow...Jay, it seems if this is the only place you're recruiting, you don't have that many people. If you think I can and you need me, I'm willing to be a Marcher lord equivalent, whatever it is. Eruheran would make a better marcher lord though, but I don't think he wants to. ;)

It is a very good start, actually.

I think Holy Creations ought to be the umbrella name, actually. What do y'all think of that?

I like Holy Cosmos or Holy Creations. But Holy Creations sounds too much like the creation of the world. But I can see where you're going from there, since we're writers, etc.

Sounds like a great idea, Jay!

I don't think I'd be able to help with the Sci-Fi forum since I'm pretty busy already. And I'm not too interested in writing sci-fi... fantasy is more of my thing.

On a side note, "Holy Cosmos" makes me think of New Age/post-modern worldview. Dunno if that name made anybody else think of that, though. Maybe it's just me. :)
