 Post subject: Important Announcement about Editors and Cadets

I’m sure you all have seen the name changes with the Moderators and Editors. Let me ‘splane. No. There is too much. Let me sum up.

First of all, the moderators haven’t changed too much. They still keep the forums clean, organized, and healthy. All they have done recently is undergo a name change to Officers.

However, the editor program has changed quite a bit. The editors are no longer a rank. As I see it, ranking is for those who have a position of authority, and editors don’t have that responsibility. Editors are basically just normal members except that they volunteer to edit the forums and keep the posts clean. So instead we have made them a club! And it’s a club anyone can join. If you want to join the editor group, all you have to do is apply, and then I’ll PM you with an entry test to ensure you have proper grammatical knowledge to perform well in the role. Also, you’ll have to understand the procedures for editing and follow them. Other than that, it’s completely open and no time commitment is attached!

“What about the blue rank, then?” you ask. Thank you for asking! I am pleased to announce a new program: the Moderator in Training program, also known as the Starfleet Training Program. This group is called the Cadets.

The reason this group is colored and has a rank is because they will have a small position of authority. The goal of the group is to train members to become excellent, committed Moderators. What is the best part of all of this? This group is also open for applications! If you apply to enter the group, I’ll send you a PM of instructions on how to further apply to the role. If you pass the application process, voila! You’re on your way to becoming an Officer!

However, you do need to have been a member for over a month, have posted at least 100 times before you apply, and be a member in good standing. Not too difficult, right?

So if you’ve thought about becoming a Moderator and you didn’t know how to work towards it, you can do that now through applying for the job. There will be a time commitment for the role, but it shouldn’t be too much.

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this new program, and for the new editor system. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or through PM. You can PM both me and Aubrey, as Aubrey is the head of the Moderators and we’re working close together. (Warning: Aubrey and I are Sci-Fi nerds, so you may have to put up with geeking out within the program.)

So the editors & Mods-in-training are different, correct? One can be an editor without being a mod in training?
