Aubrey and I were talking and we decided it'd be fun to get a bunch of HWers to read The Telling, if we get a few people interested, we hope to do something like this again. :D

Details

A description of The Telling, as well as where to buy it, can be found here.

Dates
The discussion thread goes up in the Historical Fiction forum at the beginning of August and goes until the end of the month (longer if we're still talking!).

Read-a-thon integration!!!
A message from our sponsor-ahem, I mean, Aubrey:
Quote:
people who are participating in the Read-a-Thon (not required) will earn 100 bonus points if they participate in the discussion before the end of the Read-a-Thon, and another 75 if they review the book on Amazon.

So! Buy/borrow/attain the book and participate! If you think you have a reason not to join in, mention it below and I will put it to rest.

This is testimony to the crazy stuff that can happen if you follow me on Twitter. :dieshappy:

I'm excited about this! I have been meaning to read Duran's books for some time and I'm especially interested in "The Telling" (which is his newest, btw). Now I have motivation to get it done! Join us, y'all. :D

Awesome! I was able to get it from the library (well, it's supposedly on its way at least). ^_^

Just popping in here with a suggestion.

My ways of procuring money are limited, and I'm trying to save for a laptop. The Telling didn't interest me enough to spend laptop money on it, but I still wanted to participate in the HW book club! Phila (That's what I call Aubrey Hansen) generously offered to lend me her kindle book once she is done. (I don't have a kindle, but anyone with an amazon account has a kindle "cloud reader" which functions like an ereader, and there are kindle apps people without an amazon account can use.)

Thing is, kindle ebooks can only be "lent" to other users once for two weeks, and over on the scifi thread I was not the only cheapskate. ;) I came here to suggest that HWers who have purchased an ebook of The Telling lend it to HWers who are penny pinching once they are done.

I started reading this today...

...while swinging by the lakeside, accompanied by a delicious breeze and a bottle of diet green tea. :dieshappy:

That sounds fun... other than the "diet" part. ;)

You ever tasted it? No? Then how would you know? ;)

Post subject:  Re: Book Club - 'The Telling'

I've tasted enough "diet" stuff to know what it's like. ;)

I would argue that, but since that is off-topic, I shall ignore you and keep my tea to myself. ;)

*finished the book yesterday and is pondering thoughts* ^_^

The discussion starts tomorrow! It goes all month, so there's plenty of time to join in even if you haven't started reading the book yet.

Well, it ended quite a while ago, but if you read the book already (or are going to read it) we'd love to hear your thoughts still. ^_^

 ^_^

I'm gonna order it from the library. :) Have you considered going on with this, with other books?

Why blushing? o.O

Okay. :D Yeah...but we decided to scale down. I think what we're doing now is Aubrey and I (and anyone interested) will race through a book and then make a thread on which to discuss it...Aubrey can correct me if need be.

(and just to make sure you know, this book is very creepy )

Because it's an automatic reaction for me to blush when anyone says they'd love to hear my thoughts. :P I'm not used to people really caring about what I think or say.

Ah, right, right. Sounds cool!

Thanks for the warning. I shall proceed with caution.

Jem, the chat is eating my messages. That's why I'm not saying anything. :P I'm just gonna go to bed now. G'night, big bro. :)

Yup, Wolfie is correct. You can blame me for a) not archiving these threads and b) not posting on last month's thread about the change.

I'm going to move our discussion thread for "The Telling" to Reviews on HWHF, so it'll be there for anyone who wants to discuss the book in the future. :D
