Hear ye, Hear ye, hear ye everybody! on pain of death or other suitable punishment...
The Rules have been revised! Didn't know we had any? Well, now you do, and they have been revised. Believe it or not, they are what lies behind that Rules button up at the top of the screen. I couldn't believe it either! Seriously though, it would be wise for all forum frequenters to take a quick look at those rules. They were expertly and painstakingly crafted (by a completely anonymous author who may or may not be involved in announcing them) to flow nicely and come in a natural feeling order, and actually lots of them are unchanged. Following is a basic summary of the changes and updates, but remember that it is the rules way up there that count and not necessarily these down here: Chat room rules have been laid down. UCP trickery, changing one's color and/or name, is generally no longer permitted. Exceptions include officially sanctioned pranking times like April 1st, when everyone should be expecting pranks running around like chickens with their feet tied together, or when everyone in the chatroom knows about the prank or it is quickly divulged. Shortly said... no deceiving people in there. Lots of posting regulations that have always been known are now officially in the listings. Stuff about bumping topics, content advisories... etc. Not really a change, just a codification. The avatar system has been updated. The art gallery rules were added to the official rules page so that everyone can see and know them.
Seriously, again, these rules are here mostly for the protection of the users. If one of these rules is violated, the forum team will take appropriate action to notify whoever broke them. We posted them so we can all know what all the rules are. That doesn't mean that just because we didn't forbid it, it is okay, either, though. These rules are here so that everyone can know what they are so that everyone can obey them. Don't feel that we are expecting less of anyone and therefore have created a rules page to keep them in check. It's actually the opposite. We expect a lot out of all members, colored, ranked, ringed, or otherwise. We expect the rules to be respected and obeyed, especially now that they are visible to all. If you have any questions PM Reiyen, because he may or may not have been the one who was involved in most of the revision process, and may or may not be the one most able to explain them, because he may or may not have wrote them.
Sincere thanks, Reiyen for the Forum Team
