It is that time of year again, my friends! Due to the success of the October Coloring Contest (The Elementals) I decided to put a quarterly coloring contest into place last year. So now we begin our Second Quarterly Holy Worlds Coloring Contest.
So, now it is time to start coloring, guys. The artwork featured this time is my Dragon Cycle series consisting of five categories that show the progression of a Dragon’s lifecycle. So, here is how things are going to work:
There will be five categories in which you can enter.
New Birth,
Awakening,
Cultivation,
Flight School, and
Dragon’s Prime. A winner will be chosen from each of these categories and their pieces featured on the blog. From these 5 winners I (with the help of your lovely judges AzlynRose and Celestria) will choose one ultimate winner. This ultimate winner will be given the choice between any of my original drawings in the Holy World’s Art gallery.
Now, last time I chose to challenge you all by having you carry out a theme in each picture. This time I am going to try letting you all have free reins and see what you come up with. Depending on how the contest goes, I may do this in future contests, or I may go back to the challenge types.
Rules:
There are no limitations to how you portray your piece.
You may use any form of drawing materials (paint, colored pencil, markers, so on)
There is no limitation on submissions. You are allowed to submit as many entries as you like for as many categories (you can participate in all five) as you wish.
Now, since we are not going to have a theme challenge, let me remind you guys that the ability to think outside the box and portray that on paper will go a long way towards helping you win. Celestria, Azlyn, and I are not judging based off of who has the neatest coloring (although that does help you). I am looking for the eye of an artist; the talent of being able to portray what they imagine and portray it well. So just because you are young and don’t think you can draw well, don’t let that stop you! Have fun and be creative.
All entries will be judges on creativity, presentation, and neatness. Don’t let the typical look of a dragon put you in a box (although traditional dragons can still be used with some artistic flare and wow us judges).
How to Enter: After printing out the available coloring pages and completing them with your own artistic rendition, you will then upload your pictures to the HW art gallery and embed the pictures into the appropriate thread. There will be 5 Submissions Threads, each titled by the name of the picture they will be housing. New Birth, Awakening, Cultivation, Flight School, and Dragon’s Prime.
Please give credit to the original artist in the Art Gallery Description Box when uploading.
Have fun, guys! Don’t forget you can enter all 5 categories, if you like, and you can enter as many entries as you want. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.
The Coloring Contest begins January 9th and will go till February 9th, when submissions close (sorry we are late starting this year). The winners will be announced in a special HW blog post on the 18th (It didn’t work out in my blog scheduling to announce the blog post on the typical Thursday, for multiple reasons). This gives my judges some breathing room this time around, since the 5 day judging was a little rough the first time around.
Have fun!!!
