You've all heard the rumours, you've asked if it's a possibility, and I'm here to tell you that, yes. There will be a third HW forum.

I think we can all guess who's pet project this will be. Or maybe not.
Raven of the Wood is, of course, one of the loudest voices calling for HWHF. But Hannah Marie wants one just as bad, and since she understands forums she'll be heading up the project, with Raven as a very capable right hand. Between the two of them I'm sure we'll have a forum in no time. :D

Development will start in June, and we hope to release on November 11. (A year, a month, and a day from SF's release.) In the meantime feel free to discuss, get excited, and plan to help. There's nothing to actually do yet, but being ready to act when we give you tasks is time gained right there!

I have a friend who could get extremely excited about this :D (she writes HF and didn't want to join a purely fantasy forum ;))

I'm going to bet that Hannah Marie and Raven will be joining first. :P

I don't write historical fiction, but this still sounds neat. :D

Not quite, Elanhil. :P
My mom pointed out that Fantasy, Scifi, and Historical encompass most genres. Adventure, romance, etc, are usually subgenres of one or another. So I think we'll have a perfect trilogy in the three. :D

The year, month, day thing is since once we've started we might as well stick to it and then each one has their own launch date. Which makes organization just a tad bit easier.

Yay! This sounds like a great idea! My sister reads a lot of historical fiction so I think she would have a blast on an HW historical fiction forum! :D

While I doubt she'd be able to beat the eager souls waiting to be the first to join. ;)

Since I write in many genres, a historical forum sounds good to me. :D

And, perhaps, after that, a thriller forum?

Awesome! *pokes old manuscripts* I'm afraid I won't belong on such a forum, though. All my HF works are utterly abandoned. But hey, who knows what the future (or, er, Summer) holds.

That and regular, present day fiction. (Absolutely failing here. . . what it the genre name for that?) I'm sure that if enough of us start bushing in ten months. . . :)

Thriller is like adventure and romance, I believe.

This will be welcome news to the girl I'm helping to self publish a book... very exciting!

I do think one more genre exists which can be put in a sub-genre: Thrillers - either supernatural (Peretti, Dekker, King, Koontz, style) or political (Rosenberg, Grisham, Cussler, Flynn, Clancy, etc.)

They unfortunately don't fall well into any other genre.. some have overlap with Sci-Fi, but only a little, and not all have any overlap.

Contemporary fiction! That's the phrase I was searching for! And Eli, I'm still under the impression what you're describing would fit in CF, even supernatural, because it would be Christian contemporary fiction writers on the forums.

No, I'll just be a more demure happy as opposed to a psychotic maniac happy. :D And I wouldn't be happy spazzy dancing in the presence of any snakes by the way.

I think she's excited.

Having helped with the SF forum I know a little more about how this one will be created... but that's information for later. :D If nothing else we'll need lots of people lined up to start posting like crazy the minute it's launched so it looks busier than it really is. :D

Having helped with the SF forum I know a little more about how this one will be created... but that's information for later. :D If nothing else we'll need lots of people lined up to start posting like crazy the minute it's launched so it looks busier than it really is. :D

Will do! :D

How historically accurate defines historical fiction? My historical is more anachronistic.

I'm excited about this too. The more historical people we can get the better for me, since I'm no good at remembering history. Some history buffs would be a great asset to have over there to be fact checkers.

With the third dimension of HW, I see a parallel with Triterrus and how each forum matches a world. The people on HWHF could help us develop the alternate history associated with the portals and mixing of elves and giants on Earth. We could give you guys lots of stories to write in the world of Triterrus, as well as help us build the history.

I think the next forum should be unicorn riding dragon slayers fiction. I've got a real hunch it's the next BIG thing ;)

Seriously though, I think we need a Thriller site. If we want to add a subforum on any of these forums to discuss a genre mix of Fantasy-Thriller, Techno/SF-Thriller, etc that should also be possible. There should be a Steampunk subforum on the HWHF site.

I reckon fantasy-thrillers and sci-fi-thrillers could be more easily pooled into one forum. Tack "Action" onto that title as well... HolyWorldsThrillerActionFiction... HWTAF... has a nice ring to it... *dreams on*

I second this. :)

I don't think this is necessarily getting ahead of ourselves. We could use this as advertising. If people here like steampunk and can write some short stories to promote HWHF, that would be helpful building excitement and membership. Those who write in this genre can get started writing it and when it's good enough publish it, then when we launch this forum we can promo both the stories and the forum.

Historical Fiction and Steampunk go hand in hand as one of many subgenres to write under within HF. We should be thinking of other subgenres like Civil War, The American Revolution, etc. We could think of prompts and prepare people for nanowrimo to write a story using this forum as help. Last year we were a little too busy to take advantage of nano properly to promo the SF site.

*chuckles * I wasn't being serious, Tim. Sorry. My winking smilies are an indicator, normally. That little guy should have a roguish smile. That would match my mood better when I use the smilie.

Well, the way I see steampunk... it belongs on Fantasy, SF, and historical. So you can't try to contain it in one place. It's up to each individual author to decide which forum matches their story best.

Alternate history would be a cross between HF and SF, wouldn't it. Cool.

The only category I see that might still be lacking would be contemporary fiction. Thrillers, romance, action and adventure, mystery, they're all more of subgenres. After all, they need a setting, and Historical, SF, and Fantasy are all defined by setting; not style. But! How far in the past is considered history? And isn't contemporary very nearly covered by historical as well? If we divide the subforums in the Laboratory/Scholar's Hall area by dates, (how I envision it,) it would get progressively more current, and I don't see why it wouldn't end up with one for contemporary as well. Then thrillers, mysteries, and action stories could join in with steampunk in simply finding the forum that fits them best.
