Hey everybody,

Seer just asked me if he could suggest someone to interview for the podcast. I wanted to open up a thread so that other people could as well. I'm taking a step back from the show, but am not gone for good. Jay, Ari, and a host of others are helping out so we can keep producing content until I'm able to do another interview.

Here's who Seer suggested:

Quote:
His name is Charlie Starr and he's an English/Humanities professor at Kentucky Christian University. I've recently come across some articles of his on Christians and Art and I think he could share some insights that would benefit all of our HW members
*hunts link for contact info *
Aha! Found it! :) http://www.kcu.edu/webform/contact-form?nid=196

If anyone else has someone they'd like interviewed, post below. Thank you.

I'd like for our Aubrey Hansen, author of Red Rain, to be interviewed. :D

I've already bugged her. :D She still hasn't given me a solid yes or no. Wanna poke her with me?

I'm finding it highly entertaining that y'all think you've been "bugging me," because absolutely no one has so much as mentioned this to me in the past three weeks or so, except for Grace to ask about testing my Skype. I figured it wasn't happening, if y'all weren't asking. As far as I know, y'all haven't even determined what you want in an interview...

I hath spoken with the aforementioned authoress, with the intention of doing said poking, only to discover a shocking truth! Miss Aubrey Hansen says that no one has addressed her with an actual request, only that they have dropped hints and random vague comments.

My dear people, if you want the signature of an author do you say "I'd love to have your autograph some day" or do you hand them a pen and a paper and say "Will you sign this for me please?" Ask, and you shall recieve!

Just because you know the author personally doesn't mean you can presume that she'll acquiese to whatever you suggest, you need to submit a formal request like you would with any other self-published author you've interviewed. Whichever person is currently in charge of such things needs to take the time and effort to write her an official PM carrying our request. Only when there is a definite request can there be a definite answer.

Miss Aubrey, your mind is slipping if you don't remember me coming to you before I did Amanda's interview and asked you officially to do an interview. You told me you were nervous to do one, and you gave me your reasons. :D I would be happy to refresh your mind, if need be. I have not bothered you in over three weeks, cause you said you'd get back to me, and I have been working on other authors awaiting your response. :D

I was really nervous the first time I spoke on a podcast as a guest. You have a leg up that you know these people, and might do well to just chat for a little bit to train your mind into treating it like a friendly conversation. Then the editor chooses the spot to start the podcast out of whatever chat you have at the beginning. Sometimes it fits, and other times it doesn't. For example, a recent interview with Karina Fabian, we talked about curing hiccups and how we both spilled something tragic that day; while it was "real," it wasn't necessary and kind of boring for new listeners.

I second Nemo's suggestion! A wonderful idea. Any attendees who can should be interviewed about their time at the convention. :)

I vaguely remember chatting with you about the idea, Airianna. Still, no one's sent me a formal message and said "We're ready to do this - here's what we want - make a decision already!"

I can't make a decision this week. I've got too much bearing down on me that I really can't even think clearly about it. But next week, if someone wants to contact me and actually discuss what y'all have in mind for an interview, we'll figure it out.

I'm sorry to be vague, but y'all haven't put your foot down and given me hard details, and... honestly it's a hard decision for me to make, especially when I've been investing a great deal of myself into strenuous writing lately. :P

Thanks, guys. :)

Ooh, yes, we should ask Malfhok to do one about loglines! I know him personally and might be able to help with that. :)

Jay can attest to the fact I talked to you. :D I was talking to him about it, as well. Perhaps your memory is slipping. ;) It happens. :D

Anyway, you no longer have an excuse, if you go look in your inbox.

Jay said something long time ago about me being on the podcast, Tim, and I emailed you about it, but I never heard anything about it after that from either of you. *slightly confused*

Anyway, interesting people I'd like to see interviewed... kingjon comes to mind, as does Pavalini, Airianna, Jonathan, Bushy, Dieki, and The Glitter Spreader (hehe ;) ).

Airianna? Why are we interviewing me? O.O

Yeah, Jonathan already knows he's scheduled. But he thinks he needs to publish first. ;)

@Airi: We love you and you're interesting and you have a big story and a vibrant personality that would come through gloriously on an interview. :D

@kingjon: I've really been fascinated by your posts all over the forums - you seem very knowledgeable about a lot of topics and you have a simplistic, though-provoking approach to your posts that made me think you would be very interesting to talk to. It's not like you have to do it; *points to title of thread* these are only suggestions after all. ;)

And now we all know why I love my E and no one needs motivational tapes on HW. ;)

Of course. And I wouldn't even mind doing it (too much, probably). I was just explaining why, on the one hand, there might be technical difficulties of unknown ... difficulty ... and, on the other hand, I might well not be as interesting to talk to in a "live" situation like that.

Okay, guys, let's try and approach this a different way. If I am to schedule any of these people, I need to know what exactly you want from these people.

In other words, give me your suggestions of Potential Podcast guests by telling me what you would like to hear from them. What topics of expertise do you feel they would have that I could pull out of them in a podcast?

This will help me figure out how to incorporate more people into the podcast. Also, don't just limit your lists to HWers.

Also, any published author on HW, please step forth. I would love to do interviews on you all. Let's promote the HW community. I plan on having interviews of people outside of HW, but I want to make sure we bring the HW community into their Podcast as well. So, if you are a published author I will need a copy of your book to read, and let's begin "negotiations".

As a side note, we may end up interviewing Ted Dekker, if things go according to plan. :D

Yes, I knew you were. *smiles * However, I was letting you published Authors step forward and offer to participate in the podcast, before I begin hunting you down.

So, does this mean you are stepping forward? :D

Oooh! *raises hand* I have an idea for someone you could probably interview. He's a relatively new author (as in the last year or so), has written Fantasy, Historical Fiction, and a fiction genre I'm not sure how to classify. He has a three-part fantasy series, and he's currently writing the second one. He also has a five-part "fiction" series, and he's also working on the second one. He is a Christian, works for Focus on the Family in marketing, and is an all-around awesome and interesting guy. He also appears on the Adventures in Odyssey Official Podcast pretty regularly.

Who is this mystery man? Brock Eastman. I have his contact information. In fact, he's in my gtalk. :D I've met him in person, have him on Twitter, Facebook, and have won a couple of his contests, too. I've been thinking about introducing him to and inviting him to join Holy Worlds anyways.

What do y'all think? If you want to interview him, I could probably get on and help host the interview if you want me to, since that could be a connection point with him and Holy Worlds. But that's only if you want to interview him. I'm sure he'd love to be interviewed, as he's had many recent interviews anyways.

Here's his website: http://www.brockeastman.com/main/

Podcast Catastrophe? Nonsense. It will be wonderful to listen to a podcast with you.

That sounds neat, Nemo!

Bethy has a beautiful voice. I want to hear more. :D

I'd really love an interview with one of my very favorite authors and most influential writing mentors, Daniel Schwabauer. I know him somewhat though there might be other HWers with better connections to him than I have (Matt Lauser comes to mind). But if needed, I'd be happy to ask Mr. Schwabauer about an interview, if we decide it's something we want to do. :)

Ack! I had a post all typed up, and HW ate it. Again! This keeps happening to me.

*reconstructs her post *

Bethy! I am soooo proud of you! I thought for sure I was gonna have to go on a Bethy hunt and... persuasively force you into doing one! You have made me very proud. :D I shall need to read your story, though. So, pm/e-mail me, and you and I will begin negotiations and scheduling. :D *is excited *

Nemo, that would be awesome! I already have tons of questions running through my mind! I think having you as a guest host would be cool, especially since you know Brock personally. You and I may even just have some fun and kick Jay and his busy schedule off and have a girls Hosting. O.O That would be a first. But we’ll talk about all of this through e-mail, and I’ll get with Jay. So, let’s begin negotiations. :D

Keep up the good ideas, guys!

Grace, that would be great. Would you like to formally ask him if he would be willing to work with me on setting up an interview?

Luke Alistar just had a podcast, and I'm scheduled for an interview today, so that's two published authors down. :D

*is excited by some of the other suggestions*
