I have an idea to run by your podcast council. I’ve been sending this to some of the podcasts I listen to that have topics that deal with Christianity and speculative fiction.

Matt Anderson at the Sci-Fi Christian podcast and I have been coming up with ideas to help cross-promote podcasts. For example, their podcast is doing a crossover with my podcast next week. We had the idea of a digital comic-con and a podcasting network -- some of these things are on the horizon.

But one idea I had, after hearing the idea in a movie review podcast I listen to, is a "theme week" in which a group of podcasts talk about similar themes, all in the same week. It would take some coordination, but not as much as a digital convention!

The idea is to have podcasts that come from a Christian worldview, but that get into geeky things, unite together in a cross promotional super powerful Justice League of Superfriends for a week.

I wanted to see if this was something that would interest you. It would involve: playing a promo piece during your theme episode that would mention the other podcasts involved; talking about the theme (you'd be free to interpret it however you like, though -- so if it was "Faster than Light" you could talk about how much faster you use regular Ranch dressing than light Ranch dressing); and posting links to the other podcasts in your shownotes for that episode.

The idea being that, hopefully, our audiences discover some of the other podcasts doing similar things, and expanding the community.

Is this something you would be interested in? I don't have a date -- we're just thinking in May. And maybe it would be a single week we all release our theme episode in -- maybe a period of two weeks or three. There are a few details to be worked out, but I wanted to invite you if you are interested!

Right now, the theme Matt Anderson and I came up with is “Superhero” – interpreted how you like. The hope is to do this once or twice a year (you wouldn’t be obligated to do it every time we do it, of course).

So far, the podcasts involved are: Strangers and Aliens, The Sci-Fi Christian, Faith Hope and Nerds, Geekually Yoked, and we have a tentative yes from The Storymen.
