When I'm subscribed to a topic in a room I'm subscribed to, and the topic receives two replies before I return to HW, I'll get first a "Topic reply notification" email (as I should) and then a "Forum post notification" email for the second reply. "Such should not be"---though this is at most merely a very minor annoyance. |

Yeah, that's normal, from what I can tell. |

I wouldn't be surprised if it is normal (and I vaguely remember some similar behavior on the last PHPBB forum I was on, years and years ago), but like I said, it shouldn't be this way---after all, the topic-reply notification emails say that "no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic," and then you get another one (but a "Forum Post Notification") for the next reply anyway. My usage pattern each morning is to go through each notification in my inbox in order; I'd prefer not to visit any thread twice unless it's replied to after I visit it the first time. |

Actually, I have this happen, but only if I am subscribed to the topic and also to the forum where the topic is posted. So say I subscribe to the Moderators Room, and then I also subscribe to a thread in the Mod Room, I'll get a notification for the room, and also the thread I subbed to.

Elanor's correct - the forum software is doing what it's supposed to be doing. No way we can fix that, at least not at the moment Andrew |

I found an upstream ticket describing (what I think is) this as a PHPBB bug, with an "unverified fix" patch attached to it ... for what it's worth. (One of these days I ought to learn PHP myself ... sigh ...) |
