I am writing a short story about William Toddly, a 1400s artist in England... he gets sucked into one of his drawings where no logic exists and stuff.
Now here's the cheese; Is it historical? Because it is written for one certain time and could be "realistic" (for twas' only a dream)... or was it fantasy? Because it was all far out and not like life??? Where shall I post it?

Either. It depends on what your wrote it for and how you see it. Since the historical board won't be up for months and I want to see it I say call it fantasy and post it here.

Hmm sounds a lot like Leaf By Niggle, (one of Tolkien's books). Maybe you should read it so you don't unknowingly write something like what he had in his book, not to mention it's a really good book. But then again it might be better not to until you've done your book, what ever you feel like.

I like what Stephen Lawhead calls his books: "Mythic History" and "Imaginative Fiction".

As far as what "shelf" it would be put on in the store? Fantasy/Sci-Fi, without question. To be put under historical, you would have to *not* have any speculative elements in the story.

And by "speculative", I mean amazing, strange stuff. (Technically, all fiction is speculative, but not all of it has fantasy / sci-fi / paranormal stuff.)
