Okay, It looks like the weekend of July 22 is the best for everyone.
Now it's time to narrow it down a little more.
We will eventually get to the end of all these polls and actually HAVE the convention!

The books or the music in which we thought the beauty was located will betray us if we trust to them; it was not in them, it only came through them, and what came through them was longing. These things—the beauty, the memory of our own past—are good images of what we really desire; but if they are mistaken for the thing itself they turn into dumb idols, breaking the hearts of their worshippers. For they are not the thing itself; they are only the scent of a flower we have not found, the echo of a tune we have not heard, news from a country we have never yet visited.

All the things that have deeply possessed your soul have been but hints of it—tantalising glimpses, promises never quite fulfilled, echoes that died away just as they caught your ear... We cannot tell each other about it. It is the secret signature of each soul, the incommunicable and unappeasable want . . . which we shall still desire on our deathbeds . . . ~C.S. Lewis

Maybe I just made it invisible to you because I knew you couldn't go.
Then again maybe I wouldn't know how to do that if I wanted to.

??? Dunno why you wouldn't be able to see it.

Sweet. :D Have you got anything resembling a location yet? (Keep in mind that it would be nice to have wifi...)

Well, there are several parks in the area we could try. Are we wanting like a picnic table area with a pavillion type setting? What is the goal, other than possible wifi?

Trees are nice. A pavilion is a definite must, in case it rains. Not somewhere too heavily forested, so I can use my swords without being afraid of hurting myself on a tree. :D Picnic tables would be good as well, electrical outlets might be nice too... *dreams*

A lot of parks have pavilions, a lot of pavilions have electric... I know parks in our area have what my mom calls shelters, which are actually indoors, equipped for people who want to party in the park. I don't know the rules, but perhaps reserving something like that is an option.

*knows nothing about parks in St. Louis*

If you could find a park or a grassy spot with a pavilion near a library, you would probably be able to mooch wifi off the library. ;)

From what I understand we are (tentatively) meeting on Saturday, July 23rd at my house in Catawissa, MO. We live "barely" outside the St. Louis area (we're, like, 1/2 mile off the book-maps of the region) and have wi-fi, electrical, and 5 acres of land for all the sword-fighting desired.

I think another day is also in the planning at a park.

That'll be great. You and my daughter, Adele, are about the same age, so you'll get to meet her along with my younger daughter, Ness, and my son, Leighton.

Again, this is tentative. If plans change, we'll still be there.

Yes, your daughter Ness is a delight. I've enjoyed getting to know her. She mentioned that Adele was close in age to me. Leighton is the middle child, right? He may be similar in age to my brothers, who will be coming with me.

Leighton is 16, so that should be fun for him. We have two boffers for sword-fighting, but more are welcome.

Also, Jay ... what time would we have to start by (central standard time) for you to be part?

I have a 17 year old and 14 year old brother coming, as well as a 4 year old sister, so that'll be great! Can't wait, and I know neither can they.

I'll be available from noon to five (my time) at least, though I should be able to stay later than that if all goes well. Exceptions can be made.

Okay, we have a location for the first day, but the second is still being decided. Airi, will you have dear Elianna with you for the second day? Are you planning on coming the second day? I was thinking zoo; museum... *shrug* Since the original plan was to meet somewhere together to get to know each other first, and then go somewhere the second day. Any suggestions?

The second day is a Sunday... I'm not sure what would be open... I may have Elianna the second day, or I might be able to get my Grandma to watch her.

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

When God takes something from your grasp, he's not punishing you. Instead, He’s opening your hands to receive something better. The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.

You know, that's a brilliant plan... I really, really hope I can come. :D

It is the secret signature of each soul, the incommunicable and unappeasable want . . . which we shall still desire on our deathbeds . . . ~C.S. Lewis
