Post subject:  Altered Smiley?
I just noticed a few minutes ago that the small grin smiley seems to have turned into this one: :)

What happened? Is this some smiley malfunction (Amanda mentioned the smileys looking weird for her, but that was about half an hour ago and they were fine for me)? Or is this an intentional change?

Attached are screen shots of the altered smiley in case this isn't happening for everyone.

I am wondering if this is intentional in response to people's comments (including myself) that the old smilie looked a bit snarky or sarcastic.

*chuckles * I wondered if anyone would notice. Brendan and I were talking to Jay today, and complained about the smilie. Being the wonderful Admin that he is, Jay promptly went about changing the smilie. It was a very difficult task, and Carissa and I got to see at least 8 different smilie versions before Jay settled on one.

It is intentional. And it seems the old smilies will remain as they were. So that is why some people have seen the new ones, and others are seeing the old ones. Sorry for the confusion, guys.

Okay, haha, I figured it out. Your browser's cache is preventing you from seeing the new ones. :o Because the new images have the exact same names as the old ones, it doesn't know the difference, and shows you the cached, old ones.

So you can either clear the whole cache for HW... or you can do what I did. Right click on the edited smiley image, click "Open image in new tab," then go reload the page that pops up. You should see the new one. Then all the smileys will be edited. :D

Nice. I particularly like the new :o smiley. The new normal smiling smiley is nice but it's so small (that just means I'll have to use :D all the more! ;))

I have about ten varieties of that smiley that I could add in with various text codes. Ask Duchess Daisy or Air. They helped me make 'em all trying to find a good one. Haha.

I actually wouldn't be averse to having more smileys in that sense. The problem would be that it would use up all the text codes, so all you could do would be the graphic smileys unless you turned them all off for your post.
