Nearly every time I have to leave the forum it is because I have to tackle Mt.Dishes. So I thought I'd start a completely unimportant thread about a completely important and necessary part of life.

Can anyone tell me what could possibly beat dishes for being the ultimate Vanity of Vanities. You have wash them because you have to make them dirty, and once you've made them dirty, you have to wash them, because you have to make them dirty again...... And they must be washed and dirtied everyday!

So, do you have a dishwasher or are you the dishwasher? :D

I'm the sole dishwasher in my house.

Teehee! :D The dreaded dishes! We had a dishwasher for four years, and I think a whole year of that was spent it being broken, or needing to be fixed. It was good on really heavy cleaning nights, but now we do it by hand. Since there are seven of us children in my family, we have now split into teams so that we only do it 2 nights a week each. :D Works well.

*chuckles* I'm the dishwasher that puts the dishes into the dishwasher...it's a working title.

Well we sat down with Dad one day and we said...Dad we are not living a life at all. All we do all day is wash pots. So he thought about it for a couple of seconds and then he said....Ok well we'll get a dishwasher! And we've never looked back haha! It's so much easier. I am so glad he got us a dishwasher *huggles Dad.* It is so much easier filling it up and putting it on and letting it wash up for you! :) We use it at least 3 times a day.

Having a full time job, all house chores have been lifted from my shoulders and placed rather heavily upon those of my siblings... It's nice to finally get to one of the GOOD parts of growing up.

Haha, Layla! I don't think they'd cope too well if I sent them to you via post. ;) :D

My brother has a full time job so we make him do the dishes on weekends. He wasn't impressed. :D :D :D

Us elder three Kondraels are the dishwashers in our house. We each do dishes for a different meal. :)

In my younger days we washed dishes all the time. Last year (when we renovated the kitchen) we finally got a dishwasher. It's really nice because it gives us more time *cough* to work on school *cough*

Dishwasher's are handy like that, aren't they? We've heard loads of other stories the same!

Here are some dishwashing solutions if you're doing it by hand. :D

BushMaid's Deadly Dishwashing Solution #1:
Get a sound system of any kind e.g. CD player, ipod dock, laptop, run a super duper long speaker cable from your desktop PC to the kitchen, and turn your favourite music up really loud so the music will drown the woe of dishwashing and make it more exciting. (You could use an ipod, but they don't work very well underwater when they accidentally go for a swim)

BushMaid's Deadly Dishwashing Solution #2:
Repeat step one of the previous solution, only play an audiobook. You will get so engrossed in the story you'll want more dishes to wash so you can keep listening. ;)

BushMaid's Deadly Dishwashing Solution #2:
Pay a younger sibling to do it for you. :D :D Please note: This does not always work.

And I've stressed my collection of helpful dishwashing hints. Sorry, there weren't many!

 You know, when I went to bed last night there were two posts here....now I have to read twelve! And after catching up I can put my two cents in.

Dishwashers are helpful...but I don't really get the point since you spend fifteen minutes rinsing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher anyways. Might as well go back to the times when I was the one doing the dishwashing and the rinsing.

We have a dishwasher in our rental house, but we only use it for special occasions like Christmas or when we have twenty people over. Hilly and I are the dishwashers...our younger brother mainly just clears the table. =)

We've always had a dishwasher that we use whenever it gets 3/4 full. However, I still wash the dishes that would get ruined by going through the dishwasher and when things don't fit. It's just impractical for us to not use it.

Beth, we don't rinse our dishes before putting them into the dishwasher unless they're really bad. So that's not a problem for us.

We have a dishwasher, and my siblings and I split the work of loading and unloading it. :) We do have some dishes that must be handwashed, though. I always scrub and, if a siblet is around, they dry. Never the other way around. Occasionally I wash and dry, but no one ever does the washing besides me. (I think it's because Mom decided I'm the only one that would get the dishes actually clean, heehee.)

Just as a tip, another good way of quickly diminishing the amount of pots is to drop them on the floor. Then throw the bits in the bin. Not necessarily the best way to go about it and I have never tried it but thought I'd throw that out there.

At my home I do all the cooking and my brothers have to do all the dishes. Usually when I cook I listen to audio books on my ipod.

My brother and I had to wash the dishes for the majority of our childhood, but then we moved to a house that had a dishwasher. My job is to scrape, rinse, load, and unload the dishwasher. Caldera's is to wash the pots and pans that can't go in it.

But Justin, you are a younger sibling.
(I know him. And I'm going to keep saying that until everybody knows.)

We don't have a dishwasher. My siblings and I take turns, so I only have to wash on Fridays and Saturdays. (There are ten of us in all.) I like to listen to Adventures in Odyssey. That is really fun, and I can usually finish in the time it takes to play one episode.
