Joyful greetings to my fellow travelers in the marvelous realm of Holy Worlds! This, in spite of what you may have thought, is, in fact, a momentous day. It is the occasion of my very first announcement as Head of the Editor team! So, what am I here to announce? Excellent question! Holy Worlds needs more Editors. Many more Editors. We need people who pay careful attention to their own punctuation, grammar, and spelling. We need people who are willing to take a little extra time in their perusal of this fair forum to edit the occasional slip in their fellow writer's posts, and even go on quests to seek out and vanquish the notorious villain that goes by deceivingly understated name of "typo"... We need people who are dedicated, talented, enthusiastic... And... we need people who like the color blue and who will wear it proudly. What, you ask, are the rewards for taking on this responsibility? Well, first off, it builds character. To quote some of your mothers, I'm sure... And as if those benefits alone aren't enough-- provided you carry yourself excellently and do an outstanding job in the role of editor-- We just might consider moving you on up to Honor Roll status (if we have need of more Honor Roll members)! In other words, being an Editor isn't a guarantee that you will become an Honor Roll Member, but it does increase your chances by a great deal. This is now the new natural progression of things: first you become an Editor, and then, if you do an awesome job in that role (and we need more Honor Roll Members), you may be promoted to being a Honor Roll Member, and after that, you just might be promoted to Moderator status! So, consider yourself informed and invited. Thank you for your kind attention! I'm looking forward to working with all you prospective Editors! God bless, Carissa aka Duchess Daisy aka The Editor |

So, I've never really understood this, so I'll ask it here. I'm a moderator. Do you want me to become an editor or does being a mod sort of automatically make me an "editor" of sorts? Thanks! Andrew |

*chuckles* Alright. The position of a Moderator encompasses the responsibilities of both the Editors and the Honor Roll Members. You are responsible for keeping people's posts looking nice grammatically and formattingly (yes, I made up that word). You are also responsible for dealing with people one on one and leading users in exemplary conduct and posting. Your added responsibilities involve basically running the forums operational side. Now, typically, there should be an equal number, if not more, Editors than there are Moderators. The reason for this being that the Editors are the right hands to the Moderators. The Moderators have enough responsibility involving running the forums. While Moderators are certainly allowed and, to an extent, expected to correct grammar or formatting as they read through threads, the ultimate goal is to have most, if not all, of that taken care of by the Editors. As of now, and for a while, the Moderators have served as both Moderators and Editors. It is time we remedy that. So, in essence, you are already an Editor as a Moderator. You are expected to be able to perform the Editor duties fully and correctly. But, we need more Editors to take the responsibility of editing off the Moderators a bit because you guys have so much more to do. Does that make sense? |

May I ask, if we see someone who we think would make a good editor are we allowed to encourage them to apply to be one? |

So, are Editors assigned certain areas to edit posts or do they edit them whenever they see errors? - Terra |

TerraRandom wrote: So, are Editors assigned certain areas to edit posts or do they edit them whenever they see errors? - Terra Well, it used to be they just edited wherever, but we are now in the process of assigning areas. However, they can still edit wherever they see an error--because, well, to not allow that would be torturous to some of us. |

As a HRM, should I apply to be an editor if I want to help out editing, or does my HRM rank cover that? Sorry if you've covered this elsewhere, and I've missed reading it... |

Your HRM rank covers editing, but if you actually want to be an actual editor go head on over to the editor room and apply on the "Editor assignment" thread. And we can even make you blue to show you're actively working to keep our board clean. Basically, editors are supposed to edit. HRM can edit, but they're not expected to. You're more than welcome to, if you desire, and all our HRM have editing capabilities, but they aren't actually editors, if that makes any sense. |

Maybe the Bush part could be blue and the Maid part be purple since she'll be both. |

Okay, I think I will. (My sister Terra voiced interests as well.) But I thought I'd mention that neither of us are allowed to do much along the lines of PMing, only in select situations. (Like asking permission to view the Touchy Subjects forum.) Would that be a hindrance? |

As an Editor you do not have to PM people. |
