Pardon my off-topicness for just a moment...

That sounds fun ^^ Which reminds me... some of the CM members are going to try to have a convention one of these days. Are we ever going to do something like that for Holy Worlds? I think it would be quite interesting, though it looks like a lot of trouble to put together.

In order to keep another thread from going on a bunny trail, let's talk conventions! I know a lot of us are spread out all over the world (like butter scraped over too much bread), but surely there are little clumps of Holy Worlders scattered around somewhere. ;)

So. This is the place to talk about meeting "in real life". (As a note, please be aware that this thread is viewable by both members and non-members, so please do not post any information about your location that you do not want public on the internet. ;))

I also set up a poll so that you can say whether or not you would be willing to go to a "real life" meeting. :D

In Christ alone,
~ Evening

I WOULD! As long as it wasn't somewhere inaccessible like Antarctica. :( Or China. Or even England. :P

My mom has even mentioned having one of those at our house. :D

I'd love to meet some of you guys too, though I really doubt if I could get permission.... though my brother did get permission to meet with some people from CF....

Well, I already have some plans to meet people, but the reality of me getting to a convention is slim, despite my longing to do so. It would be nice, but totally unrealistic. And Sir Emeth would have to travel quite a bit if you had it here in the US.

I’m in Mo. so I’m at the heart of the US. You all should just come here. :D

I'm in the SE (Georgia), so I'm pretty far out from everyone else too.

hmm....apparently Indiana isn't the most central for anyone. :P

Unfortunately, I think most people on here live in the States, which is really far for the Lausers and it really seems like if we had a convention, that they should be there!

Perhaps we could have a 3 day Skype convention.

That'd be fun! Are you guys talking a "Rent a room in a library, have speakers and demonstrations and such" convention, or just a "meet up, get smoothies and party" type thing? I think the latter might be better, and make people feel better about themselves if some people can't come because it's not a real convention.

I think a meet up at the Bird and the Baby would be the single most epic thing ever.
I've actually been thinking about planning something like that, a party all across Europe with visits to big writing sites like Oxford, Jo Rowling's old flat, The B and the B, etc. And normal person things like messing with the guards (I feel so bad for those guys) and such.

Oh, and I'm deep in the heart of suburbian Texas. Where the stars at night.... are blocked by lights *clap clap clap clap*
Why am I so rude about my home state?

I like the second idea as well, Celearas. I also like the idea of a "party across Europe". :D

Iowa is probably not close enough to anybody. :)

(Calen and Philli and I should have a meetup sometime, though. Since we all know each other in real life. <grin>)

I'd say the second idea, there, probably.

Probably the latter option, and I'll bring cake. :) That would be a lot easier to organize, and since we wouldn't have hundreds of people coming we really don't need speakers or anything. I'm sure we would have a blast just by ourselves. :D

Is anyone else out here in California? :?

I know! I mean, I know lots of people's real names, but I always see Evening as Evening, not ___. Or Philli as Philli, not ____. And what on earth would we call Eruheran? He's got lots of alter egos! Now Sir Emeth I would call by his real name, because I knew him as Jay first. Hannah too.

...

Well, I don't want to leave anybody out. We'd miss everybody else. :(

Yeah, when we're all old enough and have enough money for plane fares...look out world!

Oh my, I have no idea what I would call Eruheran! That would be entertaining. I know someone who calls me Shawn in real life, but it's not from here! It could be like a game, figuring out who was who.

@ Airianna: Huh, I guess I would call you Airianna. :D

It could be a guessing game, since few of us know what each other look like.

I would know Jay and Eruheran for certain. I would probably know you, but I'm not sure who else. I get pictures in my mind from these names, so it would be cool to see who looks similar (or not!) to my impressions.

Other than Jay I wouldn't really know who anyone was... there's the facebook page of course, where a few people said who they were, but I don't think I paid enough attention to remember what everyone looked like

Hmmm...I think I'd know who Kaitlyn, Janin, Andrew, and Sir Emeth were...oh, and Traveler, Elestar and Akio Itzal of course. I'm not sure about anyone else though. :D

Now I'm wondering how everyone would know who I am? I don't have pictures floating around, do I? (unless you know me from g-mail chat) This has me baffled. Am I an easy to identify person?

Oh, wait! I just thought of something! Willow has read Samuel’s blog and watched his videos! She does know what I look like (although some of the early pictures when Samuel was little, are of me still recovering from my PRP). Now I think I have solved my own confusion.

Sorry, Riniel, I'm not. Airianna, I think I would recognize you from your picture on Into the Book, and I have an idea from Samuel's blog.

Oh. :? Guess I had more pictures floating around than I thought. That one never even crossed my mind! Okay, confusion solved. Sorry to derail slightly, but I really couldn’t figure out why everyone would recognize me.

*shows up late* As usual...

ooh--a convention? Or a pseudo-convention? Cool! I'd love to come--just let me recover from the jetlag first! We'd probably be in Georgia.

I think I'd be able to recognize Jay, definitely. And maybe Airianna and Willow--I'm really bad at faces, so I'd probably guess all wrong or something, even though of seen pictures of some of y'all. =) Ooh--though I'm pretty sure I'd guess Elanhil correctly.

@Airianna: you may just call me *the man who can't decide what to call himself* =)

It would be weird calling everyone by their real names.

eruheran

By the way—Elanhil and I already had the ‘Central Asia HW Meetup’ earlier this winter. Grand total of TWO in attendance! =)

I'd dearly love to meet all of you in real life.

We seem to be divided... midwest states and south eastern states. I am, as most of you know, in Kentucky. Indiana, Georga, Florida, I could travel to any of those places. :D

But cross the Mississippi river???

Why do I have a feeling Eruheran and my brother would get along sooo well. Maybe it is his humor (which always makes me smile).

The Mississippi isn't bad Katie. Just muddy, so bring a change of clothes. :D

[off topic]@ Eruheran: Georgia? Really?[/off topic]

Arranging transportation over the Mississippi would be my major hurdle.

Well... since it seems that we're all split up, we could have two or three separate conferences and have skype set up between them all :D
Then we don't have to worry so much about finding the perfect place and time. And we can still get to know some of our fellow HWers.

Hm... maybe I could get my brother to take me to... wherever. (I'm central time zone by the way ;) )

I'd buy one! (provided it wasn't outrageously priced like...fifty bucks. :P)

*is already thinking about designs*

I've made T-shirts before, so I would just use my avatar image for it and come up with some wording. Maybe a catchy HW phrase, or maybe just say Holy Worlds with my avatar...

You could put "The Diegose" or something like that. :D We should all put something from our stories on them; that might help people guess who we are. Oh, and we can't forget the HW logo!

I was thinking for one of them, just a plain black t-shirt with that lovely blue logo on it, and maybe the web address on the back.

Or instead of flying, we could just drive. I'd be interested in going, but it'll take me a few years to be able to go.

*sighs* Same here. It would be fun to have a road trip with other HW members to the convention. And we would be carpooling, which is good, apparently.

I can only imagine how chaotic it would get. :)

But that would be kind of cool. I doubt I'd make it, but it sounds cool. (Should there be one, thou must post videos)

And even if I did go, I would recognize no one. My facial recognition is terrible already. :)
