Yes! Actually, yes. Would you help coordinate this and make sure it gets done? You don't actually have to do anything, just make sure that other people do things. ('course, you can do them if you like too... just make sure people get to help.) Of priority right now is finding people to help with audio editing. Grace said she can do this one, but we need a list of people who are willing and have the capabilities so we can make future requests. we don't need a comittment from them, just some confirmation that we can ask them for help in the future sometime. There's a list up there of people you can start with. Try asking around too, keep the chat room on alert, etc.

You can ask Tim what exactly they need to do, or pester Jay. By all means, pester Jay about things. You should be able to do most of it through this thread. I'll keep half an eye on it.

But yeah, basically, if you'd prod this project along the path I'd most appreciate it!

I have an interview today. As I edit, I will prepare a list of things to do to take it from unedited mp3 to finished product. The programs you'll need: Call Graph, Audacity, and Levelator are all free. Of course Ani has a different editing program, but the steps shouldn't be too different, and this is mainly for others who want to help anyway.

I think it would be best to do a trial run before the interview date to make sure all the equipment is up and running. We always have technical difficulties right before the interview anyway, but if we're having an all new crew... it would be best to get most of 'em done before hand.

I'm not sure, exactly. But, I think if I said 7-8pm or so, that would give us the highest likelihood of me being available.

Ok, first of all: I am dearly sorry for not being on Holy Worlds more then I am, my life right now is a tornado of homework, music, church activities, dancing, and many other things. I have not been on here a tenth as much as I would like to... I intend to change this. Starting today; I am going to make sure I come on here at least once or twice so I can keep up with the PMs, editing, podcasts, blog posts, and other projects. My connections to the people on this forum are dead, I must revive them here and now. I would like to say; I am back. And ready to do the Lord's work.
I am horrendously sorrowful for my absence. I will ameliorate my current schedule, expiate my routine, and I will bring myself back to this group of God's followers!
I am now going to resume my editing and help with the podcasts and other projects, I probably won't be able to go on chat much, but I will try to keep up with posts.

Right now we have a scheduled interview with Amanda Davis on the 27th. Prior to that we need to make sure of who's doing what, and then arrange a test call to make sure everything's set up. I'm not sure who's actually in charge of recording the call. Usually Tim hosts, records, and edits, but now those jobs are being split up.

Once that's taken care of we need to work out what we're doing in the future, line up some other editors to share the job with Grace, and figure out schedules, visions, etc, etc, etc. *looks about for people who know more about etcs*

I'm willing to help out if there's anything I can do. I don't know how much time I'd have to give, but be sure to ask me if you're stuck and need me.

I'm ready! I don't have a microphone or anything so I can't be much help in the actual thing. I can edit if needed though, and pretty much all of those other things!

So the main thing I need to do is pm people about helping with audio editing? I can do that.

I wrote up a blog post for my ten steps to editing using audacity, but the formatting with the images has been a hassle. I'll upload the doc for you to peruse until I can get it up on my podcast purview blog.

Tim, I wanted to officially let you know that I did talk with my Daddy, and prayed about helping as a Holy World's Podcast Host.

My Daddy was very supportive of the idea and thought it would be great. I think I can do this no problem, and I won't have problems formulating questions, I am sure.

So, if you still want the help, I'd love to help. Do you perhaps have any words of advice, as a host?

I've had an idea! And I'm sure you don't want to hear it right now. I mean, you're running around just trying to get this thing to work, you don't need someone cramming more work down your throats, right?

But seriously, I had an idea. Transcripts. I don't keep up with the podcasts because I don't have the time to listen to them. Listening takes attention and concentration that I don't have to spare. Transcripts though, I could manage. And I bet other people would too. It would draw more attention to them, and it would make them more readily available. Transcripts of interviews like this are not uncommon or unheard of.

Transcribing could be done by ordinary HW members who want something to do, and there are lots of those, believe me. It could also be done simply as said people are available, no deadlines or time constraints or whathaveyou.

Thoughts?

I would love to have that. And that is something that another teammember can definitely do. I mean, who would pass up the opportunity to get to listen to the podcast ahead of time?

Question! Where will we put said transcripts? What format do the people in charge of answering that question ultimately want them in? (.doc, .pdf html, etc.)

I read that, Tim, and while some of it went a bit over my head I'm sure that my more technical brother can tell me the Cubase equivalents to everything. We can at least try it.

Hmmm... for putting them on posterous (which I think we're still using), I think a .doc will be fine. In any case we can export from that to what we need.

Most people have PDF readers. We could use that, too.

But people generally don't want to have to download something to read it. They prefer it to be written into the post like a blog post.

It probably would have gone over mine too had I not had a year of practice. So, yesterday I recorded an episode and used CamStudio to record myself editing. I'll be posting that on Vimeo or YouTube soon and making a blog post. Is there any urgency in needing this posted? Do you guys already have an episode recorded?

That's good. I just realized I can't find the video files in my camstudio folder, so I don't have any video tutorials Maybe next time, and I'll use a different program to record my computer.

I'm going to try to finish it in the next couple of days, regardless. I've had to jump through quite some editing hoops so far, but it's turning out nicely.

I'm usually a very fast editor.

I was almost done with this one and then the power went out which for some reason caused me to lose the file and lose all my work.

So I'm starting over -- the good news is, it should only take me a couple days now that I know the ins and outs. And I'll have a better idea of how long it will actually take me.

I'm dreadfully sorry it's taking so long! It (hopefully) won't happen again!

Yes, I got it and downloaded it. I meant to let you know that the splitting tracks doesn't make much difference to me, as I can do that myself in Cubase, so if it makes it harder for you to send split tracks, you can just send a single file like you did before. Whichever.
