So, guess who emailed me today? Terri Blackstock's publicist! She wanted to know if I'd like to interview her. I've never read Terri, but I've heard she's good, and she's a NYT bestselling author. I asked if I could get print copies for anyone that joins the interview who doesn't have an ereader. Is anyone a fan of Terri or wants to join the interview? I have to be a little picky to make it work timewise and not to crowded wise, but let me know if you're interested.

Also, we could really use a properly formatted logo in 675x675 dimensions to fit in itunes and on blogs. We have one, but it doesn't work right because it isn't those dimensions and when I try changing it, the image goes all whacky (technical term)

So, I haven't heard from anyone about the image. I would like us to look as professional as possible once we gain Terri's audience to the show.

Another problem is there is no name associated with the podcast. I tried adding my name for AudioTim into the meta tags in Audacity and iTunes but they never came up in iTunes store and I read that Posterous's system isn't a perfect match for iTunes, and so stuff like this happens. Since moving my podcast off of Posterous onto Wordpress using the blubrry plugin, that problem has been solved, and everything else is more efficient.

(I never figured out how to put a "subscribe on iTunes" on the HWP page, so whomever is posting these, please include the link in each post. I'm guilty as well, as I had to scroll down to episode 7 to find an episode that had this link.)

I've just recently heard about www.archive.org as a possible means of hosting the audio. Switching the feed is a whole nother matter because Jay isn't here, but one day the ideal may be adding a page to the blog or even just posting the podcast on the blog (do we use Wordpress?) using the blubrry plugin. That way we're driving traffic to our website (and the blog) and not just the podcast's website.

I was just listening to the Aubrey interview and noticed some microphone noise and jarbled speech that should be edited. Whomever is editing, if you switch the tracks to mono you have control over each track so if one person blows in their mike (Air ) while the guest is talking, you can highlight the noise just on her track, generate silence (instead of cutting so that you don't mess up the timing) and vwolla! Same for when people are talking at the same time. Either cut it out or silence one of the tracks. It was a little hard to hear Aubrey, so I don't know if that was just her mike or what.

K, that's all. Hopefully this wasn't so long that it nullified itself. This Blackstock interview is our chance to move up a level and I want to make sure the growth sticks by making all of our episodes and our presentation top notch (as best we can). I'm here if you have questions. Thank you.

I'm trying to think of images for each post. Does anyone have pictures from the conventions? I'm talking with posterous right now trying to figure out why some posts show images and others don't.

I've implemented a new theme that looks much better when each post has an image uploaded. Some of the posts' images aren't working and the help person at Posterous suggested I use larger images.

Problem is, I don't know how to enlarge size of file. I've tried using Lady E's avatar but it's too small. Same for some book covers that I've saved off author's websites. Anyone know how to enlarge file or have access to original file for avatars (need them larger than say 25kb).

Well, I have been talking to you through e-mail, Tim, so I won't repeat myself here, but I will reiterate that I like the navigability of the podcast much better now.

I'd like to help in some way, but I'm unsure how I would do so.

Well, the big need right now is research. Who should we interview, and what should we interview them about?

I'd say the big needs are advertising and design. More editors could help, too, if we wanted to make the content more steady. It's easy to record, but the editing takes the most time.

The outreach on the Coffin Hop tour hasn't been very good from a page view numbers. I'm not sure where else to post to let people know about it. If helpers would like to listen and then start discussion threads, that could get more HW's listening. They could then blog with their thoughts or something, and reach out in that way.

Design and web hosting is an issue because we are still on Posterous, which is not a good system, both for design and useability. We should purchase www.holyworldspodcast.com and build a proper Wordpress site.

We also still don't have a podcast image that we can put on itunes and use in posts to advertise.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I forgot about the image!

Actually, we don't need to buy holyworldspodcast.com, we should be able to use holyworlds.com/podcast. Or even podcast.holyworlds.com. Cheaper that way.

However. That would involve setting up a new site, and I seem to remember Andrew saying that wouldn't be at all easy if you're not Jay. I could potentially ask my dad about it, since he sets up new wordpress sites for me all the time, and get a list of data he'd need to do that but... he's busy and probably wouldn't really have that much time to commit to it.

Starting anything new without Jay is going to be nightmarishly difficult at best, impossible at worst.

I suggest the hwpodcast.com because it would be easier for me to work on developing it and accessing it. For two years I have butted heads with the problems you mentioned and nothing has been done. I'll probably just do it myself if nothing is done before I can afford to buy the domain. It's not like that would be much different than its current location of holyworlds.posterous.com

*nods * Tim has been wanting to move the Podcast for a while, because its current location has lots of problems and issues, but, as he said, we haven't been able to get anywhere with the HW sites.

I didn't mean it like that Grace. I was just saying, we could probably produce more recordings if we had more editors. That's not high on our list though.

Oh, I know! I just feel bad I haven't been more on top of it the past month, and I mean to do better.

You've also been pushing to publish a book and finish edits, so it wasn't like you weren't doing anything. But I'll be excited to see them all up.

I talked to Andrew. He said he can maybe get a wordpress site set up at holyworlds.org/podcast as early as this weekend. Then we can just make you (Tim) an admin and you can do whatever you like with it, including design, etc. Sound good?

I should add a couple things:

1. If you've seen my site, I'm more of a bare bones web designer, partly because I don't make time to figure out much in the way of "flare." So, I'm afraid it will look a little bland. We'll see... an image would still be nice, though I might be able to use the one Andrew made before as a header image (it just wasn't made to resize into dimensions for iTunes or as a thumbnail to fit in posts and on sidebar).

2. Unless you guys want HW to host the files, (which could cost money in bandwidth), you may have to send the finalized mp3's to me to upload to my friend's server. Then I send back the mp3 url to insert into the Blubrry program I use to podcast on wordpress sites.

This will require planning ahead to accommodate for me potentially not being available to upload the file right away.

3. The transition may take a week or two because my friend will have to help me switch the RSS from the posterous site to the new site (so we don't lose subscribers).

I'm excited. This saves me money and seems to fit better than a new domain would. I hope I didn't come across as domineering in saying that I would do stuff myself. It's just that I am not working on a podcast right now, so I have more time to dedicate to this. Thanks for helping.

I will also need to be an admin, as I mess around with the HW Podcast on a regular basis, and have big plans for it in regards to the different types of podcasts now being done.

Oh, I'm glad you're excited. Wordpress is pretty easy to master, so if you're looking for someone to help add some design flare I'm sure we can get someone to help out. Not having HW host the files would probably be a good idea, but I imagine the timing would be between all you podcast people. Just do what you need to do and let me know if there's anyway I can help.
