Good idea! I never tried that.
If you are using Safari or Firefox, simply drag the little globe icon to your desktop. The icon is found inside the URL box immediately to the left of the URL. If you are using IE or anything else, I have no clue.
Also, you can rename the shortcut once it's on your desktop.
