Ladies and Gentlemen,
It's been a while eh? But NaNo is back, eager to consume another November with a flurry of writing, reading, kicking yourself, carpel tunnel, sprained fingers, and pwning the writing newbs. (Pardon my slang.)
At those point, those of you who haven't done NaNo and some who have are asking: "Is it really worth it?"
Nope. It isn't worth it at all: if you're talking about money, or fame, or getting your chores done.
If you're talking about glorifying God, the satisfaction of a job well done, or something like that, then yes, it's worth it.
But I'm getting ahead of my self. You might not even know what NaNo is!
Check out the
NaNoWriMo website, especially the
About page.
So, you know what NaNo is and why we do it. Now it's time to talk about the Holy Worlds groups doing NaNo and the activities we have planned.
Earlier this year, Evening L. Aspen created a
thread for HW in the NaNo forums, at Jaynin's request. That's our main hang-out and a jumping-in point for everybody.
Willow Wenial has an announcement thread on our own forums, which you can find
here. Check out the list of participants and let Willow know if you want your name added.
For daily challenges and group writing times, check out our latest thread:
Holy Worlds Word Wars, Sprints, and Challenges. I've got a full program planned there, but here's a brief summery.
Each night during NaNo I'll host a
sprint for one hour. The sprint is a fun group writing event, where each person sets a word count goal. Those who reach their goals are declared the winners!
Each day is a competitive event: report the amount of words you've written in a given day in the thread, that evening or the night before, and try get the highest words added. It's a word war.
Sprint winners and the word war champion for each day will be announced in a weekly post. The member with the highest amount of words gained that week will also be mentioned.
Finally, the member to write the greatest amount of total words during NaNo will receive their own huge announcement thread, along with the runners up, NaNo champs, and NaNo participants.
After each announcement, head over to the
NaNo thread in the Challenges forum and congratulated the participants of NaNo 2010!
Now, let's all sing a rousing verse or two from "To God be the Glory"!
