As many (and I mean many) of you have discovered, our new chat layout has a summon-feature that allows you to call online members into the chat room. This is a great feature that can help prevent loneliness in the chat room and allow you to get ahold of friends that you really wanted to talk to. However, I've noticed that some people like to use this feature to summon every online member.

I personally don't mind being summoned to chat if people really want to talk to me, but I find myself ignoring summons most of the time because I figure it's probably just somebody summoning everyone online. So I present this thread for all those who don't want to be included in mass-summons. This isn't a "don't summon me ever" list. Only a list for people who'd rather not be summoned to chat unless their presence is truly required/desired.

I would prefer not to be summoned as well. Due to family rules and my internet filter, I cannot access the chat room for any reason. If you need to talk to me, please PM me.

You can summon me if you are thinking about me specifically and want to talk to ME, but please don't summon me with a huge group, unless it is important.

Yeah, much as I hate it, I need to go on the list. If you guys need/want to talk to me, you know I am always available and will come at a moment’s notice. But I've had a few times where I wasn't really needed or wanted for anything, and I can't come into chat for just anything, otherwise I won't be able to take care of other HW stuff.

Don't hesitate to summon me; just don't summon me for no reason.

I wouldn't mind being added since I'm usually zipping around modding or posting and usually don't have time to chat long anyways. (I'd prefer to voluntarily enter that chat room.)

This could actually be added to the rules of the chat room: don't mass summon. Pretty simple.

I added Hannah Marie to the list 'cause she never answers summons anyway.

I don't mind being called if you actually want to chat to me. Otherwise, I'd rather not just get a random chat call off someone who is just going.

Go ahead and add me. I pretty much second what everyone is saying: If you want to talk to me, just me, just because I am myself and you want to ask me something or get to know me better, you may summon me. But I am usually busy while on here because I don't have much time to spare, so I don't want to waste time in Chat from someone who did not really want to Chat with me.

And, just so y'all know, I enjoy chatting with only a very few people at a time. Much like I do in real life. I like my conversations to be "I'm looking you in the eye, listening to you, not distracted". Many times I have peeked into Chat, only to see it was crammed with people, a million different conversations, and I slipped back out again.

So! The bottom line is, call me if you need me! If you just want to add another name to the Chat Room, forget it.

Please don't summon me unless you specifically wish to talk with me. Thanks.

Often when I see a summons, I feel guilty about not accepting it, even though I have things I need to do. I think it would be really nice if there was a "Sorry, too busy right now" buttons to push next to "Go to chat."

I happen to know that Dieki is working on something bigger and better, (As I have suggested. ) so he isn't going to be changing summons any time soon, instead he'll be taking it out altogether.

Right, okay. I can't lock this thread, because people need to be able to post it...

But neither can I let you guys chatter on it. This is announcements. It's statistically proved that if chattering happens in announcements people stop reading them. And we wouldn't want that.

I'd like to shoot this thread back on track by mentioning that people have gotten better at only summoning people when they are needed. I think now that the feature isn't so new, it isn't as fun to use.
