Post subject:  Favorite Patreon creators?

I hope to launch a Patreon in March, and so in the meantime am researching successful channels (and also finding a handful to support myself to spread the love around). Do any of you support any creators on Patreon? Do you know anyone personally who has a Patreon? Do you have any Patreon channels that you particularly like, or think they have good content/rewards?

No clue at all, sorry. However, I look forward to learning from your experience! Still trying to find the right venue for the TDW series, when it's ready to be sold.

Ahh, technically it would be off topic (on my own topic ), but I'll share my Patreon plan later when I've got a few more of the details in order. :D

What is a Patreon? (I know - I should just google it...)

Patreon is a site where fans can sponsor a creator for a monthly donation. It's a bit like Kickstarter--in that, there is exclusive content only for sponsors, and there's usually different levels ($1, $5, $50, etc.)--only monthly, instead of a one-time fundraising goal. The idea is to give creators semi-regular income so that they can devote more time to their art. The benefit to the sponsors is that they get exclusive content. A lot of creators will do private Q&As, Patreon-only releases, etc.

It's based on the historical concept of "patrons of the arts," where wealthy people would fund artists. Hence the name.

It's a neat concept, and a lot of creators are very successful at it. But, like everything, you have to offer a good balance of value and exclusivity to make it worth people's time and money.

Ah, ok.
I have a friend who, several years ago, quit her job and then ran a kickstarter to support her as she wrote her trilogy. She got enough funding to do the first of the three, which she self-published, and then she had to get a job again.
She should have tried something like Patreon instead.
