Post subject:  Favorite Bible Verses

I was wondering what everyone's favorite Bible verses are. I'm not sure if there is a thread for this, so I thought I'd make one. :)

Hmmm... I like Job 39:19-24. It's about horses. :D
I also like (of course) John 3:16 and Psalm 23, mostly because I memorized them when I was little. I really do like them, though. :D

So, what is your favorite Bible verse(s)? :D

Good thread, Emmalina! :D

Wow, just one? ;) There are so many, many good ones I find it hard to pick my favourites. I love Psalm 56:3-4, Psalm 46:1-3, and I also love the ones in my signature. :D I love Ephesians 6, because it talks of the armour of God. I love Romans 13:12 also (my avatar :D).

Phillipians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 4:11, 1 Timothy 4:12, 2 Timothy 2:22, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Corinthians 13:13 are all very special to me as well. :D

Sorry, couldn't pick just one! :D

It's supposed to be for all your favorite Bible verses. You can post as many as you want too. :D

I couldn't think of all my favorites today, but I'll post them when I do. :D

These are probably my two favorites.

(2 Chronicles 7:14) - "If My people, who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Not sure how accurately I quoted that, but there ya go!

(Romans 5:8) - "But God commended His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

I would like to preach on both of these passages, actually.
God bless,
Crushmaster.

I love this thread, Emma! :)

A few of my favourite are:

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psa 31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Jas 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Jas 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Great thread idea!

I love John 3:16 and the Lord's Prayer (the two staples of Bible verses), Psalm 23:1, Proverbs 12:1, Psalm 27:1, Proverbs 3:5, Proverbs 3:24, Isaiah 41:10, Matthew 6:34, Joshua 1:9, Samuel 12:24. Out of all of those, my top five would be Matthew 6:34, Proverbs 12:1, Psalm 27:1, Proverbs 3:24, and John 3:16. And, of course, I love many more!

Post subject:  Re: Favorite Bible Verses

For me it's pretty circumstantial, but presently my life verse is Proverbs 16:9, "In his heart man plans his life, but the Lord leads his steps."

It's really important to me because as I figure out college and what my life is going to look like in the coming days I can trust the Lord has a plan for me. That verse always helps me realize that I'm not in control of my life, but God is.

This is a great topic!
I love Isaiah 40:28-31
"Have you not known, have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no strength he increases might. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
and:
2 Timothy 1:7
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

Post subject:  Re: Favorite Bible Verses

I've always loved Isaiah 53:4-5:
"4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

And Philippians 4:13. Not because of the inspiration of the sole verse, but because before the phrase, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me," Paul describes not only the good things that he has done, but all of the awful things he went through, being able to endure them solely because of Christ.

Also, the verse in my signature. :)

I agree completely. :book:

However, here are a few of my favorites:

2 Samuel 22:2

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer

Psalm 103:1-5

Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name.
Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits--
who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

Matthew 6:31-33

Do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?'
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What a great thread idea Emma!.

I love these verses:
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.

Revelation 7:17
For the lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

Job 37:2
Keep listening to the thunder of His voice and the rumbling that comes from His mouth.

Isaiah 12:1-2
You will say in that day: "I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength, and my song, and He has become my salvation.

Psalm something:something
He is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Romans 5:8
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

There's another one but I can't find it right now... :/
I also really like Psalm 23.

That's all for now, If I think of any more I'll post them. :D

But back on topic, another of my favourite bibles verses is the whole of Psalm 91; but especially these verses:

Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psa 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Psa 91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
Psa 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

(I like this verse, because when I wasn't feeling the best, it made me feel a lot better! :D)

Proverbs 4:20-22

Psalm 1:6
