Some of my favourites are, 'Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus': O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free! Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me! Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above! And Come just as you are: Come just as you are hear the spirit call come just as you are come and see come receive come and live forever Life everlasting strength for today taste the living water and never thirst again So what are your favourite hymns and lyrics? |

One that I really liked in our last home church was called "Trust and Obey." ^^ 1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of his word, what a glory he sheds on our way! While we do his good will, he abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Refrain: Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. 2. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil he doth richly repay; not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey. (Refrain) 3. But we never can prove the delights of his love until all on the altar we lay; for the favor he shows, for the joy he bestows, are for them who will trust and obey. (Refrain) 4. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at his feet, or we'll walk by his side in the way; what he says we will do, where he sends we will go; never fear, only trust and obey. (Refrain) |

The words of those ones are very deep Mandy, I love them! It's a shame I don't know how they go. Another one of my favourites: Jesus, keep me near the cross; there a precious fountain, free to all, a healing stream, flows from Calvary's mountain. Refrain: In the cross, in the cross, be my glory ever, till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river. 2. Near the cross, a trembling soul, love and mercy found me; there the bright and morning star sheds its beams around me. (Refrain) 3. Near the cross! O Lamb of God, bring its scenes before me; help me walk from day to day with its shadow o'er me. (Refrain) 4. Near the cross I'll watch and wait, hoping, trusting ever, till I reach the golden strand just beyond the river. (Refrain) |

My favorite hymns are 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus and Blessed Assurance. There was recently a hymn night at our church and someone there told us the stories behind some hymns. That was really interesting! 'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!” Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more! Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood; And in simple faith to plunge me ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood! Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more! Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus simply taking Life and rest, and joy and peace. Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more! I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end. Blessed Assurance: Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood. Refrain This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long; This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior, all the day long. Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels descending bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love. Refrain Perfect submission, all is at rest I in my Savior am happy and blest, Watching and waiting, looking above, Filled with His goodness, lost in His love. Refrain |

Amazing Grace for me. After seeing the movie, I fell in love with this hymn. It's so beautiful, especially the original version. I also love "In Christ Alone". In Christ Alone In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; this Cornerstone, this solid Ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone! who took on flesh Fulness of God in helpless babe! This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones he came to save: Till on that cross as Jesus died, The wrath of God was satisfied - For every sin on Him was laid; Here in the death of Christ I live. There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain: Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave he rose again! And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine - Bought with the precious blood of Christ. No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me; From life's first cry to final breath. Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, Can ever pluck me from His hand; Till He returns or calls me home, Here in the power of Christ I'll stand. |

I recently found St. Patrick's Breastplate. It's really good but it has many verses. I bind unto myself the Name, The strong Name of the Trinity, By invocation of the same, The Three in One and One in Three. By Whom all nature hath creation, Eternal Father, Spirit, Word: Praise to the Lord of my salvation, Salvation is of Christ the Lord. That's the only one I can think of right now... |

I can't remember it all properly, but apparently the man who wrote it had had a rough life, and when he finally found God, he wrote that song. But afterwards, he drifted from the Lord, and one day he was riding in a carriage with a woman who was saying just how much that hymn had done for her, and he was extremely uncomfortable. He eventually turned to her and said, "Ma'am, I am the miserable creature who wrote that hymn, and I wish to heaven that I had the peace now that I felt at the time I wrote it." I'm not sure if he ever came back to the Lord. |

I love, love hymns! They communicate so beautifully the character of God, our relationship with Him, and His death on the cross. Some of my favorites are: I Need Thee Every Hour I'll Fly Away Nothing But The Blood It Is Well With My Soul Old Rugged Cross Great Is Thy Faithfulness How Great Thou Art Before The Throne Come Thou Fount A Mighty Fortress Rock Of Ages Hiding Place Through It All In The Sweet By And By Softly And Tenderly I Will Sing Of My Redeemer Be Thou My Vision Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior Amazing Grace 'Tis So Sweet There Is A Fountain Power In The Blood His Eye Is On The Sparrow What A Friend We Have In Jesus Part The Waters Precious Lord, Take My Hand Just A Closer Walk With Thee Blessed Assurance My Father's World I Surrender All Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus Take My Life What A Friend We Have In Jesus Have A Little Talk With Jesus Sweetest Name I Know My Jesus I Love Thee Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus What A Day That Will Be I Stand Amazed Victory In Jesus Brethren We Have Met To Worship Leaning On The Everlasting Arms Down At The Cross Grace That Is Greater I'm Feelin' Fine Battle Hymn Of The Republic And I could go on and on. Someone mentioned that they couldn't find their favorite version of "Brethren We Have Met To Worship", so I thought I'd share one of mine: And I think I'll list the some of the lyrics from "Battle Hymn of The Republic": (vrs 4) He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet; Our God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on. (vrs 5)In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free; While God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on. (vrs 6)He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave; So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave, Our God is marching on. Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on. |

All for Jesus! All for Jesus! All my being's ransomed pow'rs; All my thoughts and words and doings, All my days and all my hours. Let my hands perform His bidding; Let my feet run in His ways; Let mine eyes see Jesus only; Let my lips speak forth His praise. Worldlings prize their gems of beauty, Cling to gilded toys of dust; Boast of wealth, and fame, and pleasure; Only Jesus will I trust. Since mine eyes were fixed on Jesus, I've lost sight of all beside— So enchained my spirit's vision, Looking at the Crucified. Oh, what wonder! how amazing! Jesus, glorious King of kings, Deigns to call me His beloved, Lets me rest beneath His wings. |

As those of you who have seen my various posts in the "News of the King" thread, and read my letter to Jay's judge may have guessed, my favorite hymn right now is "Before the Throne of God Above". My favorite recorded version of it is Shane and Shane's cover. When satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within, upward I look and see Him there who made an END of all my sin... Gone. Past, present, future, forever. Not simply forgiven, nay, far more than that. Legally justified, declared and made righteous. Bought. Once a slave to sin and satan, now a slave to Christ, but also His bride. We were once dead in our sins, incapable of moving, but now, for some reason, some reason, which I will never know, we are now alive in Christ and dead to sin. |
