Someone asked me the other day how fast I type and I didn't know what to tell them. I type fairly quickly, I know based mostly on Word Wars I've been in, but just how fast my typing skills themselves actually were, I was clueless.

So I got on a generic test online (one of the first ones that came up when I googled) to see. After taking the test three times, my average typing speed is between 74-89 WPM. I know I don't type correctly--I use mostly my left hand, and I'm right-handed too. There's no shame in finger-pecking and it takes a lot of work and energy to speed type (which I don't), but now I'm curious.

How fast do you type?

I can't recall what the test said my WPM were, but I believe it's somewhere around 60-70 WPM. If I have the words in front of me and am typing up something that's already written, I type a lot faster. If I'm writing a story I'm slower.

And I just took a test twice. The first time I got 67 and the second time I got 60.

I've taken multiple generic online tests, and on average I type anywhere between 98-110 WPM. I have the early years of HW in the chatroom to thank for that.
