| I have lately been having the strangest dreams. I have heard (I don't know how true it is) that when you have a really deep sleep, you are more likely to dream. Anyway, I have been overloaded with stuff and work and more stuff, and I've been sleeping really deep sleeps. If I don't set my alarm clock, and I go to sleep at 8 or 9pm, I could sleep for 10 hours straight I'm so exhausted. Lately though, I have been having the strangest dreams, but I wake up thinking they are real. I thought I'd had a conversation with my sister and cancelled something, and it turned out I'd had a dream about the conversation and it hadn't happened. The weirdest however, was about my teeth. I am going on Tuesday to have a wisdom tooth out. I didn't think I was worried about it, but I think my subconscious is telling me otherwise. I had a really indepth dream about my teeth all going really white at the roots, and when I pushed on the tooth it just caved over, and basically all my teeth fell out. I was so upset, I woke up in a panic and had to check all my teeth, it felt so life like!! Crazy! A lot of authors (like J Ward) dreamt about their MC and so wrote a book about them, or even dreamt the plot for their novel. Ahem, now I know one couldn't exactly write a novel about someones teeth falling out. However have you ever had a dream that you've felt was that real, and have you ever incorporated them into your writing? | |

| Creepy dreamses, Precious, oh yes. >_> *hugs Elanor* I prays all goes well on wisdom-tooth-outing day. Aye, I have. I used to have an awful one about a tiny, evil spider chasing me around my house. I did put it in Egnitheos. Though I'm not really afraid of spiders... *shrugs* Weird. | |

| I haven't had deeply real dreams in a while, but I have had a fair number of them. Mine about a spider was actually a giant, glowing, robotic spider that my dad had programmed and lost control of in my dream. The reason I woke up thinking that one was real was because I never left my bed in the dream. I grind my teeth in my sleep, so I do sometimes have dreams about them getting loose or crumbling out of my mouth. I have had a few dreams that influenced my book because they managed to fill plot holes I had. It can be amusing, because I sometimes have thoughts within the dream about how that will help my story. I have had one or two where perhaps I am holding something and wake up so gradually that the object just fades and I feel around for it until I realize I was dreaming. More often though, I think something was a dream when actually it was someone trying to tell me something in my sleep. I respond with complete coherence, but never actually wake up. Those get me into a spot of trouble. | |

| I once had a dream where every Bible in the world suddenly vanished, and as the dream progressed, everything and everyone I held dear slowly vanished, and the last thing I had was a single Bible in my hands, and it began to crumble and float away like ash right in my hands, and I remember panicking because I couldn't remember a single verse. I ended up writing a short story about it. | |

| I often have the regular strange dreams, but they are not helpful. There have been a few narrative dreams, but usually they are not any kind of quality fiction. There was only one that was very good, and I wrote it out into a short novel, actually. I had to fill in a little bit, but the plot was complete and the emotional pacing was also complete from the dream. It was terribly sad. That's the only tragedy I've written. I often get dreams that feel very real and make me think something happened in waking life when it really didn't (like you canceling with your sister, Elanor). I also get something a little similar to hypnagogia occasionally, minus the paralysis--I got up and washed my hands during one because I hoped it might end it--but those are terrible dreams and I've never used them for my writing. :| Have any of you had a problem with going to sleep, where you are starting to become more lethargic, and then your brain lets out some adrenaline or something and you jerk so hard you are awake again? | |

| Once, I had a dream that I was with Aragorn and Boromir from Lord of the Rings. We were on the run from someone who was chasing us - the main antagonist, whoever it was. I never got to see what he or his minions looked like or who they were. We were running down the hills in my backyard. There was a time skip, I think, because eventually the scene cut to us finally slowing down in a slightly wooded area, still in an area of my rather large backyard. We heard someone coming, and Aragorn told me to hide. I ran and hid, and they stayed outside to confront whoever was coming. It ended up being slave traders, who sold to the men who ran starstone mines - which is a mineral that can become explosive if handled a certain way; kind of like medieval grenades or firecrackers. Well, they got taken by the slave traders. So I had to go find them and rescue them. Then I woke up. I also vaguely remember us having to fight off a forest troll at some point, I think while we were on the run from the main antagonist, before the slave traders showed up. I ended up deciding to add the whole thing to the second book in my fantasy trilogy. Only with my own characters; not Aragorn, Boromir, and myself, haha. | |

| When I was around the age of eight I once had a dream where I was playing in a park. Then I saw a beautiful giant butterfly. I chased after it and it landed on a tree. I slowly crept up on it when all of a sudden it attacked me and tried to eat my face. I started to scream and woke up crying. I had a huge fear of butterflies for quite a while after that. | |

That escalated quickly. You poor thing. It rocketed from sweet and whimsical to horrific in an instant. | |

| My dreams are either super bizarre (never scary though) or super boring. Bizarre example: I had a dream once that some people took my brain out, while I was still awake and perfectly lucid, and then fed it to me. It didn't taste great, but when they put it on a hot dog bun it was a little better. Then they regrew my brain and put it back in. ...? Boring example: I had a dream once that a broken seat belt started working again. | |

| I think I've had that, Kidh. Usually it's accompanied by a dream when I am only half a sleep and thing I am still awake. It is often of me walking on ice until I slip and jerk when I try to catch myself. It was interesting once, because I was trying to walk carefully along a wet slope, but going sideways rather than up or down, so when I slipped there I tried to catch myself accordingly, thought I was still only dreaming. I found that very interesting. | |

| Generally, most of my dreams involve me falling for a seemingly long time - through colours, maybe time - and sometimes other dreams. Not screaming - just floating gently on my back, viewing myself from just beneath and about a yard away horizontally. I never hit anything - never think - just fall... never fearing or having a moment or realism... until I wake up. Then I feel normal and do not think these dreams strange because I have them about once a month. | |
