In conjunction with its sister threads, Crazy Fantasy Writer, and Crazy Holy Worlder, I thought it would be nice to have a crazy bookworm thread when I realized my librarian has learned my reading tastes within the last month due to their ongoing book sale. What are your marks of a bookworm?

You know you are a crazy bookworm when...

You buy books from your library rather than checking them out.

Your librarian comments that she knew you would like the books you selected as soon as she put them on the shelf.

You have as much space set aside in your room for shelving as you can afford to use without living in a cupboard.

Most of your books do not reside on the shelf because there is no space.

You get rid of clothing to make room for a book drawer, or more room in the closet.

You bury your face in the pages when you are alone just to enjoy the bookish aroma.

You collect any books that were left behind at the end of school, even if that meant owning eight copies of the same Latin dictionary (you never know when you might need one).

You could live in a shack or a hole in the ground as long as it has that personal library with wall-to-wall shelves and a wing-back chair (bonus points for the rolling ladder).

You die on the inside if you ever tear or fold a page.

Your week is ruined if something spills on a book.

You carry books around like children carry teddy bears.

You have no money until you see a book that you have to have.

You get restless when you are on a reading binge and can't find something to read.

You read dictionaries, textbooks, and books on topics that don't even interest you, just to slake your thirst until you can find something more desirable.

You get distracted from activities because you were reading the manual.

You actually felt a need for a crazy bookworm thread.

You fill up a new bookcase in a short period of time.

You only rarely get rid of a book.

You sometimes read multiple books at the same time.

You have a collection of bookmarks for when you're reading multiple books at the same time.

You feel betrayed by a book with a bad story, and refuse to give it to someone, but cannot bring yourself to kill it.

You can cram more books onto a shelf than anyone else you know.

When you go to the bookstore, the first thing you do is go to check that all of your good friends are there before you buy a new friend.

You nearly faint when your mother suggests you box some of your books up and put them in the attic!!!

You reread a book to the point of its cover falling apart.

You find yourself lingering at a box of free books, conflicted because you know you will never read the outdated textbooks and manuals there, but you still somehow want them.

You never buy books on Kindle because they "aren't real books".

After you buy books on Kindle, you buy the actual book because you technically don't have the book in hand.

You love the book section of secondhand stores.

Buying new books is never a waste of money, its an investment.

 Exactly.

You need to have a collector's copy and a travel copy of your favorite books.

The thicker the book, the harder it is to resist buying, regardless of content.

You began reading 400+ page novels when you were seven years old.

Yep! *nods* :D

It doesn't matter the reading difficulty of the book because you can read it all! :D

You stay up late just to post about how much you love to read. (Then sneak in a few more chapters while you're at it).

You don't really read before bed so much as you collapse from exhaustion when you finally finish reading.

It hurts to see crafts on Pinterest that are forged by book cruelty.

You laugh when your parents tell you that you need to get rid of books. They look at you like you are a bit odd, and you look at them like they can't be serious.

Your mom gave you a YA series to read when you were under ten because you were running out of good kids' books to read.

You start using isms of your favorite book character and nobody gets the reference. This both disappoints you and makes you feel so powerful to have knowledge they don't.

You plan on buying many of the picture books from your childhood.

You have a hard time with the idea that your children won't discover literature in the same way that you did growing up.
