I think this is the appropriate subforum to post this thread.

Anyway, are any of you doing NaNoWriMo this November?

I'm considering it, though I have some internal complaints about quality over quantity.

Do you have any thoughts on NaNoWriMo?

I'm thinking about doing it, too.
I've never done it before, so I don't have many thoughts on it. I'm going to be pretty relaxed about it though, if I do it. November is a busy month for me with 3 birthdays in the family plus Thanksgiving and one full Saturday done with something else...

I'm planning to do NaNo this year. I did NaNo the past two years, and both times I enjoyed it and won.

I'm doing it this year.

For a lot of people, having a story written, no matter how badly, makes it easier to go for quality afterward, because then you can edit the thing into shape. That's how it is for me anyway. Also, practice and words written has been the best thing for improving my writing quality overall, so I've found that NaNoWriMo does good for me in both quality and quantity..

It might not work for you (it doesn't for some people), but it might be worth a try. * grins *

I might be doing it. If I can find some way to fit it in with my psychology and history classes.

I hope so too. I just have to make sure that school is the only hindrance, and not my hatred of my own writing. :P

I'm planning to attempt it. If I can plan my plot well enough.

Right. I agree. Practice helps a lot . . . which is why I may be able to convince myself to do NaNoWriMo just for the sake of practice.

I've done--and completed--NaNoWriMo the past four years and I must say I'm completely unprepared this year, but I am planning on it. I mean, four years in a row, it'd be a pity to stop now, right? ;)

I don't have a plot, however. And I've had a plot for all but the first year.

Last year I made myself do 70k instead of 50k, and I'm trying to decide if I should do something like that again, or just go for the 50k...

Anyone know what happened to the thread with all our NaNo usernames on it?

Yep, I'll be doing it, not really prepared but I'll think of something... :)

I think my username is Golthem.

I'm also on the main NaNoWriMo site as Princess Alana of Locksley. I'm thinking of getting a new account though with a different name; I'll let you know if I do.

Can it be 50K words of poetry, or must it really be a story.

I want to but I don't think I can. I'm too overwhelmed with other projects especially with Christmas coming up. I may just use it as my "write something even if it's only random scenes" month. :P

I dunno, can you write a novel-story in rhyme? I would say "Go for it!", but I don't know if 'officially', those are the rules...

I was thinking more along the lines of a giant poetry book. Something like Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass.

There are NaNoWriMo rebels, that write poetry, or screenplays, or write a book they had already started (officially, you're supposed to start one that you haven't written on before), or a non fiction book, and things like that.... They have a whole sub forum on the NNWM forums for the NaNo rebels, if I remember right. So I think you're good, Herobrine, if you decide to do poetry instead of a novel.

I really hope to do it this year. I did it last year, and it was one of the most fun things I'd ever done with writing.

I signed up with the username Miss Elizabeth. I'm still not 100% sure I'll do it, but right now, I'm still planning on giving it a whirl.
