Hello! After months of pleading from my sister, Lady Eliana, I am happy to finally join. I've heard a lot about you as well in addition to reading over Eliana's shoulder to see for myself what it's like here, so I'm looking forward to meeting you all and your stories! :D I write fantasy and mystery and randomness, or rather I think them and have only begun to let them out of my brain. Umm... more about me? I love characters and right now I am reading Lord of the Rings for the first time (and it is amazing!) :book: :D

Looking forward to Adventures in Holy Worlds!

Lady Kitra, hello! :D I am so glad to be able to speak here in person to you and everyone else I've been spying on instead of through the writings of Miss Eliana who says or omits what I say as she pleases (which of course she has every right to do). I'm looking forward to getting to know you for myself! :D

Thank You! Oh, goodness, what am I writing about? Far too much for my own pleasure! Currently, though, I'm working on a story about a teenage girl who meets a group of people long banished from her country and tries to restore them to freedom without throwing the nation, which is already on the brink of war, into turmoil. It's a bit far fetched, but I enjoy it, and I hope that the characters are realistic enough to make it believable. :D I have read The Hobbit, and thoroughly enjoyed it. :dieshappy: My edition of the book was clever, in that it put the first chapter of The Fellowship at the back of the book, thereby tricking me into reading LotR before I had intended to. I bear it no ill-will whatsoever. :dieshappy:
What worlds do you write?

Ooooh...Hard question! But probably Constance Savery, an obscure British author in the 1900's, who writes AMAZING historical fiction. If you haven't heard of her, you should really check out her books! They have super awesome characters (personal favorites of her books: Enemy Brothers, Reb and the Redcoats, Flight to Freedom, to name a few)

The Eagles are coming, and Sam and Frodo are trying to get out of the tower. The status will soon change. :book: I wonder if I'll finish today?! :D ...Oh, but then it would be over :'(

Oh, I've heard that name.... I've been reading a lot more historical fiction lately, I'm going to have to check her out. Where does she set her stories?

You must be finished then, now! How did you like it? :D Though it's always so sad when it finishes, I know... :( He didn't write any other books quite like LotR, either. The rest are all children's stories or disturbing epics.

In England :). Mostly, that is. She has one set in Canada, and in another one there's some switching back and forth. She has several set in what would be modern times for her, but she also has a good deal set all over the history of England: The (British) Civil War, Era of the Pilgrims, Revolutionary War, Post-Napoleonic: you get the picture. :D

Not done yet surprisingly! I didn't get to read a lot yesterday :/ How many of his (and which ones) have you read?

Oh... * waits for you to get to the Scouring of the Shire * :D

I've actually not read all of the ones I know about, though I probably should. My brother was a Tolkien nerd and owns practically everything he ever wrote. I've read all the children-er-ish stories (like 'Roverandom' and 'Farmer Giles of Ham') and I've read the tales about Beren and Luthien and the one about Turin. And the Silmarillion of course. :D None are exactly like the Lord of the Rings, like I said, but I really enjoy them. And they give a lot of background to the Lord of the Rings and Middle Earth and everything that is fascinating.

So, I was reading the in the appendixes about the Numenoreans, and it kept talking about the Valar, but I have know idea who the Valar are. Did you ever figure out in your readings?

My favorite character?! How can I possibly answer one? Everyone was so much more amazing than in the movie (seriously, Peter Jackson)! Frodo is amazing, and I love Aragorn, and Pippin, and Faramir! Ahhh! : overwhelmed with amazing characters:

I know! That's like one of the hardest questions to answer. ;) In the book, I like Glorfindel (but he isn't in the movie, so that makes me quite sad). I also like Faramir (love, love, love his character!) and Eowyn, Merry and Pippin, of course. :D Oh, and Eomer. Yes, the amazing characters are indeed overwhelming!

:D Thank you. But, sorry, you can't read it yet. I just only finished chapter one and my sister is looking at it like it needs a lot of improvement (which it does, even though this is about the third time I've written it in entirety...) And thanks for the... um... pie...with the flavor of pie :P

Yes!! I know, it's one of my very favorites. ^_^ It's so awesome – the hobbits are so amazingly different from when they left... but.. they're still hobbits too. I fall in love with them all over, because they're home.

Yess... the Valar. They're sort of like... well, they're like rulers and creators that God (Iluvitar) put in charge of sort of taking care of Middle Earth. There is the whole story in the Silmarillion, about them singing everything, and then seeing what the singing was, kind of – the history of Middle Earth. It's fascinating. I'm not describing it too well... :P They're like powerful angel rulers, kind of. But there is one Valar who rebelled, Melkor, or Morgoth, as he ended up being called. He was the cause of many of the worst things that happened in Middle Earth. He was Sauron's master, and he had Ungoliant, Shelob's mother and much worse than Shelob was, as his ally at one point. The relationship didn't end well, though. I think Ungoliant was the only thing ever that came close to destroying Morgoth, other than the Valar themselves, and none of them alone were as powerful as Morgoth was. The Balrogs had to save Morgoth from Ungoliant. Just in case you're wondering, though, Gandalf is not one of the Valar... he is one of the Maiar, similar to the Valar, but more numerous and less important or powerful. Sauron is one of the Maiar too.

Eeish, I'm rambling... sorry. >_<

Yessss, I cannot agree with you more about that! I like the characters in the book so much better than in the movie.... ^_^ Strider, and Treebeard, and – yes, yes, yes. ^_^
