Hello all. I'm new here, and I had a question.

My story (world) has a large Christian component to it, but it's not explicitly Christian in and of itself. The setting is in a "Christian" high school. I was wondering if bouncing ideas around here was acceptable.

As far as timeline goes, it's the xenos invasion the day after tomorrow. A race called the Selkarn invades. They, however, are not the problem. The problem comes in the form of the Denalarae Empire. They wipe out the Selkarn invasion fleet and begin the process of incorperating us into the Alliance, which is a precursor to being Imperialized.

Fast forward ten years. Earth (Sol III) is making tremendous strides forward. Under the auspices of the Empire and the Alliance, hunger is almost a thing of the past, the cure for cancer and AIDS is in final research and preparing for mass production. Oh yeah, and the drug trade is long gone. However, the American Christian Church is about to face it's greatest test.

A little background on the Denal: they have silver white hair, and a little, NASTY present in their jaws: venom glands loaded with stonefish neurotoxin. They also cry red, which is really disturbing to those who aren't used to it. I haven't figured out, however, a good system for the neurotoxin. Any help, especially from dentists, would be great. Kewl. Are they natural venom glands, or have they been installed or genetically engineered in?

I'm assuming the Denal and Selkarn are aliens? Your setting seems interesting. Is it comparable to any well known ones?

They're natural. They've had them for the last 10,000 years or so. The evolutionary reasoning is that they weren't always the apex predator; something ate THEM in the distant past and so they got them as a defensive measure. I haven't figured out a creation reason.

As far as what they look like, a little hair dye and a Denal could fit right in amongst humanity, no problem, as long as they don't cry. They were actually here during the Cold War, but then they withdrew to Titan. As far as what a Selkarn looks like, noone really knows. They used slave races to invade Earth during Invasion I.

What kind of information are you interested in?

Well, amongst other things, I need to have a good site for the neurotoxic system. The jaws seem the most stable, but it's relatively immobile. There's also little dramatic effect when someone gets bitten and drops, starts screaming, etc. versus getting punched and doing the same. There's also the problem of the spur getting ripped out, which poses the problem of disarming them, AND introducing a really nasty evil toxin into the system of the defender.

Mhmm. Do the fangs grow back?

Also, do you need more information on stonefish toxins or neurotoxins in general? If you do I'm more than willing to oblige.

If you want the delivery system to be through fangs, studying venomous snakes might be the most useful. If you want the delivery system to be able to be delivered in a punch, platypuses have a venomous spur on their hind legs, the mechanics of which could potentially transfer to an arm or hand.
