Hello there (: I joined this forum forever ago, but never really did anything with my account. I'm so excited to come back here now, as I need a place to post some of my fantasy writing for you expert critiquers. While I might be new around here, I'm not new to writing, or to writing forums (shout out to OYAN! If you understand that reference you are awesome I'm a homeschooled senior, headed off to college in the fall. I have senior-itis so bad it isn't even funny :p Along with writing I love being outdoors, hanging out with my three 'little' brothers (well, they were shorter than me once upon a time...), and playing music. I plan on majoring in journalism in college, and I've been writing for my local newspaper for a couple of years. And also I have a stash of other random facts about me, most of which only fellow writers will understand, if you want to know more about me I'm super excited to be here! It might take me a while to find my way around, as this forum seems completely different than the writing forum I am used to, so be prepared for many questions ~Beth |

Are there some subjects that you especially like to focus on? |

Eeep! Welcome to Holy Worlds, Elizabeth!! So do you intend to write books for a living, or do journalism stuff for a living or something like that? |

Another Elizabeth? Wow! Welcome to Holy Worlds! Even though you may have been a member for a year, things have changed quite a bit. Please feel free to ask any questions. I am more than happy to at least try to answer them. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what do you prefer listening to? |

thank you all so much for the welcome! ok... I'm going to try to answer all of your questions. (: I play piano, and my favorite music to play is movie soundtracks, like LoTR and Pirates (: I mostly write about community events for the newspaper, and I focus a lot on events at the library where I work (: The only genres I have written in are fantasy and dystopian. My favorite non-fic author is CS Lewis (seriously tho.... Screwtape Letters? Amazing stuff...) And I have a new favorite fiction author pretty much every week :p But my long time favorite is definitely Jane Austen. I'm hoping to support myself with journalism - hopefully reporting in a political setting. I'm way better at writing non-fic stuff than fiction, sadly.... but I would love to write novels on the side. I love listening to music while I write! I mostly listen to soundtracks like, again pirates and LoTR - and I normally don't like listening to music with lyrics while I write, but I've found that songs by Rend Collective Experiment and Celtic Thunder are really awesome and inspiring, and not too distracting. Oh wow that was long.... Thank you guys all so much for the welcome! (: |

C. S. Lewis is one of my favorite authors, too, and The Screwtape Letters is amazing. Political reporting would definitely be exciting! I find writing non-fiction difficult, but I've been working on developing the ability to write articles. Have you ever found any books helpful for learning how to write non-fiction? |

We have quite a few people around here who write those two genres. |

Okay, so, first off - welcome to Holy Worlds! Nice to have you here! And now... AAAH! YOU LISTEN TO CELTIC THUNDER! So yeah. Wonderful to see you here! I'm sure you'll enjoy it; we're all quite friendly and don't bite. Hard, anyway; the werewolves can get a bit ornery, and I'm a shapeshifter, so. |

(: @Jonathan I'm sure that there are some great books out there about non-fic writing, but I've never read any. It just comes naturally to me. And that sounds like I'm bragging, but really I'd so much rather be better at fiction writing than non-fic. Practicing definitely helps tho. Sometimes I go back and read my articles from a year to a year and a half ago, and I wonder what I was even doing :p Consistently writing for a newspaper has really taught me a lot. @Miss Elizabeth (awesome name btw @Alana thank ya! ohmygosh! I can't believe I found someone else on here who listens to Celtic Thunder!! We MUST chat about it soon. I have a very amusing Damian McGinty story that only a (slightly crazy... OH! and I just posted some writing. I'd love it if some of you would check it out |

Welcome Elizabeth James! Our family loves Celtic Thunder! I am also a non-fiction writer. I took a novel writing class & started a fantasy novel... but have stashed it for the moment. It keeps whispering to be brought back out into the light... But I have people asking for more non-fictions, so it will just have to wait a bit longer. |
