There was an awesome thread once on another forum that was sort of a general catch-all for writers to talk about writing on. Eventually it evolved into an accountability thread for those of us who were devoted to writing at least something every day. I miss the thread, so I thought I'd start something similar here.

I do write every day. There's maybe one day a month that I don't sit in front of the computer and tweak or edit or revise or draft. Even if it's just a sentence, it counts as something, and it helps with that momentum; that feeling that writing is a career, rather than a job. I strongly encourage everyone to try it.

And then--come talk about it! Come post every day and tell us what you're working on and how much you got done. Even if it's short: "I wrote a word today!" or long, maybe an emotional excerpt that you're fond of, or just a status update on your writer's block. A little accountability can go a long way towards productivity, and inspiring you to finish that WIP you've had going for ten years.

**

For my part, I'm currently writing Book 2.2 of Supervillain of the Day: The Dragon of London. Adams is in the hospital, Floyd is behaving strangely, and I somehow have to come up with three chapters of material before the big showdown. Today is going to involve a lot of tea and headbanging.

I try writing(right now editing) everyday. But since of some arrangements at my house, I couldn't write. So I begun another project. =)

It came during the last weekly challenge with the keyhole.

It's a post-apocalyptic book where Jack my MC is at the brink of loosing his mind.

Hello everyone! It's another day! I did get some writing done yesterday, although it was mostly fluff pieces. So I started outlining for an old novel instead. We'll see what today brings!

I spent yesterday writing up the back cover of Kitten Mysteries Book 2, which was supposed to be published four days ago. :P I've done no writing yet today, other than schoolwork.

Awww, I know that feeling. I called it "Season One Finale."
We're trying to avoid repeating that this year by not setting publishing deadlines. Mwahaha!
But writing back cover copy and doing other important author things counts as writing. ;) Keep it up!

Yeah, I suppose. The one good thing about missing my deadline means it gives me extra time to worry about... I mean, do last minute edits. ;)

Awww, don't give up on it, Calista! Open a new document, or get out a dedicated notebook, and promise yourself you'll spend ten minutes a day at least thinking about your book. It will actually help improve your focus for school if you give your brain something creative to think about from time to time! You don't have to work on it a lot, just jot down ideas or snippets of dialogue or whatever comes to mind. Remind yourself every day what it is that you makes you love writing and when you do get time to work on it seriously you'll be all ready to go at it without having to remember what it is you were working on in the first place!

I finally figured out the second half of "The Dragon of London!" I like wherewithal to write it tonight, but I did some outlining. And my proof copy came for the omnibus so I've been working on that quite a bit too. :D

Thanks for the encouragement, Hurricane. :) I think I will try it. School has left my brain so frazzled that it needs a break to enjoy my story. :P

I'm trying to finish the first draft of 'Catcher', and I'm going at it a bit slowly. But surely. I'll get to the end someday.... I think I've written a paragraph today.

What I really need to do is revise my short story so it can be published, though. :P

Well, I can say that Book 2.1 will come out something in March, and Book 2.2 before June. But otherwise, yeah. :)

Speaking of Book 2.2 I plan to start the second draft tonight. I think I've finally got all the pieces in place.I'm just trying to recharge from a long day of work first.

I don't know, Calista. I just start writing and words come out. It's one of the great mysteries of the universe.

That's a cool way of putting it. :dieshappy:

I'm currently editing another story(sequel)... so I came to a certain part where I had to change the tense, when I realized that I really needed to finish the first book. =)

Calista Beth I think writing also comes in seasons....you write when God tells you to ;)

What am I writing?
Well I am currently finishing my book- The Chronicles Of Meridia- Deliverance
It is an editing phase, which for me is a tad bit easier than writing the rough draft!
It is currently at 76,870 words.....final count when editing is over. I usually write everyday. But after this book is finished, I will probably take a break, for awhile. Writing can be a bit intense and stressful and a bit tiresome.
So a well deserved rest is called for! I love writing don't get me wrong, but my season is nearing to an end with this book, and rest is what comes next.
I have enjoyed writing this book, I have learned a lot! :dieshappy:

What am I writing?
Well, I'm writing this story that is currently unnamed. I began it for NaNoWriMo, thinking it would be simply a fun project, but during the contest, it became something I hoped to publish. :) I can't give a synopsis because at this time I've decided not to reveal the plot or much else. :/

I've been falling down on the job here!

I didn't get any writing done yesterday because I was gone from 8 AM until midnight. Long day. But the day before I breezed through four chapters of rewrites, half of it original work, and all of it pretty darn good by my personal standards. I'm trying to recapture that flow but it hasn't really come back to me. So I've yet to write today....but the evening is young.

I wrote about half a chapter in The Kyge in the Mist the other day, and I need (but haven't yet) to do another read-through of Trapped before publication.

My writing yesterday was pretty successful, I'd say. I don't remember exactly how much I wrote, but I know that I had to stop because my internet went out and I needed it for food research.

Today, I've gotten that food research, but only wrote about 100 words - so far!

I have a couple of hours left, so I can still do some more. I'll come back and update when I finish, assuming I still have internet by that time.

Ack! I'm alive! It was a close thing, but I made it.

Life has been insane, and I've had a horrendous case of writer's block. I have actually been doing writing and I just kind of forgot about you guys.... * hangs head guiltily *

I started the new draft of "Dragon of London" yesterday and it's going really well. See?

Quote:
“This is fun,” Floyd said. “We should get out more often.”
He emphasized his words by driving his fist into his companion's stomach. The other man doubled over and stumbled back a step. Floyd grabbed his collar and hit him again. “Really,” he said. “I mean it. It's so stuffy in the lair, and there's so much pressure to perform well...”
He dropped his opponent and, as he started to fall, kicked him in the neck. There was a snap of bone, and the henchman hit the pavement. To Floyd's surprise he sat up, cracked his neck a few times, and grinned.
“Did you think I could be killed that easily?” he said. “My master looks out for his people.”
“So you're, what, immortal?” Floyd asked, sticking his hands in his pockets and frowning. “I broke your neck. What are you doing talking?”
The henchman reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device. “It releases a dose of mystical energy that restores life to anyone who's been mortally injured,” he said.
“Mystical energy,” Floyd snorted. “Let me see that.”
“Sorry,” the henchman said, putting it away. “I might need it again.”
“Damn right you will,” Floyd said, flying at him again.
Fifteen minutes later he paused for breath, his derision turning to a mixture of puzzlement and annoyance. “Seriously,” he said. “Why can't I kill you?”
The henchmen grinned, the gaping crack in his skull pulling itself closed. “I told you,” he said. “The master takes care of his people.”
“The Master?” Floyd said. “That's what you call him?”
“That's what he is to us.”
“And what do I call you?”'
“Number Seven.”
Floyd started laughing, and Number Seven seized the opportunity this presented to sprout claws and stab him in the gut. Floyd stopped laughing abruptly and stumbled backwards, swearing in pain. The henchman started to cackle in laughter and that's why he was distracted when Floyd kicked his feet out from under him and caught him in a choke-hold.
“How...” Number Seven croaked. “You should be...”
“Bleeding to death?” Floyd asked. “Surprise.”

Last month I was really proud of myself. I was too busy to attempt Camp NaNo, although I do plan to--some day. However, I did a lot more concentrated writing during April than I have all year.

Gail Carson Levine's Writing Magic has 30 chapters. I somehow managed to be opening the book and going through the exercises in chapter 1 on April 1st. When I realized there was a chapter for each day of the month, I knew I had to do a chapter per day.

And I did. I was so proud of myself! There were a couple of days that I missed, but I went back and did them later. A few of the exercises didn't grab my interest, so I was very minimalist about them, but I did it. I wrote through the entire month--through the entire book.

By the way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. It's short and sweet with a lot of good thoughts and some really fun exercises that are also extremely helpful. If you can get your hands on a copy, then do. You won't regret it! ;)

Currently working on the sequel to The Dark Wolf. I got about 695 words written, which is less than the 745 I got done yesterday. Hopefully, I'll get more done tomorrow.

Completed the outline and began writing a collection of short stories that I've had on my schedule since July 2011.

Written 400 words so far.

EDIT: 755 words written total.

Thanks for the recommend, Caeli! I'll look into that!

This current draft is still coming along really well. I'm happy with it. :D I'm up to 10K now.

Still working on They Came From the Mountain. Got some people hankering after reading it, so it's pushing me to write more. Got a quiet week next week, so God Willing will have time to spend writing some!

I'm trying to write guest blog posts while recruiting guest bloggers. I'm somehow stuck on clever ideas...(for the ones I'm writing.) So far I've got "How to Be Evil and Make People Cry" but I'm kind of not happy with how it's actually coming.

In a world without superheroes, who will stand against the forces of evil?

I've been editing mercilessly (read: lackadaisically), trying to finish Trapped. I had hoped to publish it in March, now that the cover's done I am aiming for June, but I don't know if I'll make it. Here's hoping...

I've spent the last month working on projects and fleshing out stories and character arcs and developing characters and fan continuations rather than actual writing of stories, but earlier today, I went back to writing, and got 1300 words out.
