:book: Recently I read in a competition guidelines that if you don't want judges feedback then don't ask for it! This shocked me, because who wouldn't want judges feedback?! I personally would, to see what I needed to do to make my manuscript even better!

There is a proverbs that says "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall" There are a lot of scriptures in Proverbs that talk about humility and pride.

How embarrassing it would be, that if your book got published and it had several mistakes in it that you missed. That's why a second set of eyes is ALWAYS important. Remember this well, when an editor, a judge, or us critique your work. Better to catch the mistakes now than have a reader catch them.
I have read some books that were hard to read due to spelling mistakes, grammar misusage and punctuation issues. I personally do not like books like this. Its almost like the author didn't care at all.

There are two different kinds of pride however....
(1) Pride that doesn't allow you to accept correction
(2) Pride in something that allows you to do your best.

The first I have already talked about, the second I am about too.
Taking Pride in something is a good thing, as long as it stays in balance. Don't become so prideful in the thing you are good at that it causes you to not receive advice. But to take Pride in something, this is a good thing. It creates passion in what you do. :)
This is really good to have, for when you have these elements it results in doing your best! Which is pleasing to the Lord! :D

So remember it's okay to get feedback and criticism (Constructive not destructive) have humility so you can use your ability to its fullest to glorify God. These things will make your manuscript EVEN BETTER!!!!

:dieshappy:

Love and blessings! ;)

I agree. Often times someone else will catch mistakes that we didn't, because we were the ones writing it.

Yes, I've read some books with terrible grammar. It makes us as the reader lose some respect for the author's material.

Thank you for this, Heather. I always think it's important to get opinions and critiques for your own writing, because there are always things that you miss when you look through it yourself.
