Comparing can be a huge problem for some. You go through and read different novels (mainly of the genre of which you write) and then you go through with what you wrote. And think: 'I wish I could write like that' or 'I wish I could be like that author.' Or 'My stories stink!' well I'm here to tell you STOP IT! STOP COMPARING! Comparing yourself to others not just in everyday life but in your writing life, is a whirlwind. It gets you spinning in a tizzy of emotions

like feeling you are not good enough, making you feel condemned, making you feel like you are a failure. This is another tactic the enemy uses

.
The more you write, the better you get. Your skills improve and increase.
Everybody is different, WE ALL write, learn, create, live different. We are unique to the Lord in our own way. We all fit in his Kingdom perfectly.
Your stories don't stink, so don't even go there.

Everyone one of us are on different levels, both in life and in writing skills.
Some people have been writing for years, and others are just starting out. That's why it is good to discuss and get input from other writers, ESPECIALLY ON HERE!

They can critique you, help you, and pray for you. No one can be like C.S.Lewis or Tolkien or Me or You, but we can be is a relay for the Lord. He uses us to write messages to others through our stories. YOU ARE IMPORTANT YOUR STORIES ARE IMPORTANT.
If you want to increase your skills, get your hands on some informational books of novel/story structure, books that teach you to build your worlds from drab and ordinary to fab and extraordinary! Read novels in your genre that you write, elaborate in your mind what you could use from the novel that you just read. (Don't plagiarize, get your ideas from it; Two total different things). Watch movies study the scenes and jot down notes. There's so much you can do. STOP feeling sorry for yourself and do something about it. It does no good to compare.
With Love and Encouragement
