eruheran gave me the idea to start a thread on how many left-handed people are on the forum as of now. :D

So if you're a leftie chime on in!

Question: Are people often shocked or surprised to find out you're left-handed? Have you ever told them the corny joke, "I'm left-handed which means I'm the only one in my right mind!"? (Hee hee, I have!)

By the way...I'M LEFT-HANDED!!! :D :D :D :D

Hmmmm... I'm ambidextrous. Not sure if that counts. :P

Wow, that's pretty cool! One of my sisters was trying to become ambidextrous... she's normally right-handed, but she would practice using her left hands for certain activities.

I'm right handed, so I guess I shouldn't be posting in this thread, eh? :D

I am actually ambidextrous too...but I usually use my left hand, so since my right hand writing is not that neat, I stopped being quite so ambidextrous ;) :D

I'm right handed, but sometimes I use my left-hand, E.G; to type this and pick things up :D

I'm a lefty!!!! But I normally use my right hand for everything but eating with utensils and writing/drawing. I'm trying to change that though. I'm working on getting my left handed tambourine playing to be as good as my right handed tambourine playing. Shouldn't be too hard since I've only been playing for a month ;)

I am ambidextrous if you count piano...otherwise I'm right-handed.

(...for all my piano playing, I ought to be able to write with my left hand, but my left hand has always been weaker in piano, and I haven't had much motivation to write with my left hand...so I never learned. :D)

As I introduced this thread, I'm ambidextrous as well. I write and eat left handed, but I do several things with my right hand like: throwing things such as a ball, I kick with my right foot, any sport things I play like badminton I hit with both sides. Things like that.

Lady Terra: Haha! Cool, great minds think alike, correct? XD

I'm a lefty! (And I inspired the thread, apparently, though I have no clue where from...)

And unlike most of y'all, I'm pretty much helpless with my right hand. My rightie writing looks like a preschooler's, and don't ask me to pour anything with my right hand! I do kick a football (soccer ball) with my right foot, though.

Yes...people are usually shocked when they find out, either that or they don't even notice. Some people envy me... :P

I'm guessing we're pretty strongly outnumbered on HW....

Yeah, I think it's so strange that people are shocked when they see you're left handed. XD

The only thing I'm better at with my left hand is dropping things. XD I do push-ups with both hands if that counts as being ambidextrous. :)

Haha.. I know! People say, "Wow, are you left-handed?" "Yeah..."

I've always wanted one of those notebooks that they make for left-handed people. That would be alot of fun :D

I know...I hate spiral-bound notebooks! They always get in my way. And obviously the notebook is made wrong...not my hand! :D

Well, yeah, but then the margins are upside down...and I'm sort of obsessive-compulsive about my margins. :D

I agree, you can't turn it upside down... than it's all screwed up looking. :D

See? I've got backups, Lady Eruwaedhiel! :D (Did I spell that right?)

(Man, I feel like I'm arguing with a bunch of brothers and sisters... I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing ;))

I am a lefty!!! Lol we are definitely outnumbered, but it's actually surprising to find so many left-handed people here. That's because lefties are creative. :D I am also ambidextrous, I hold lots of things and throw with my right hand. I can't write too well with my right hand, but if I try real hard you can read it. lol. Why are people so surprised when they notice you're a lefty? I agree with everyone else. It doesn't make sense.

I always think that a disproportionate amount of lefties are writers...must be a gene or something

I kick with my right foot, but everything else is left. I'm pretty much helpless with my right hand. :D A lot of people on here seem to be ambidextrous-ish too. I also have a theory that more people who are primarily left-handed are ambidextrous, because they're forced to live in a right-handed world. But this is a writing forum, not a medical forum.

I would have to agree with your theory. Everything I've seen seems to go along with it. I wonder what percentage of people in the worlds are left-handed, and what percentage of lefties are either writers or creative in some way?...

We all know I'm left-handed, but so is my younger brother! We are both from right handed parents, but both grandmas on each side are left handed as well. :D My brother is not a writer at all, but he is creative in other areas, such as music videos/slide shows, and photograph. ^^ He too, is ambidextrous.

@Eruheran: I find it kind of interesting that you use your right foot to kick a soccer ball... I'm right-handed but use my left foot. I wondered if that was normal :P

@Arias Myles: Hmm, that's strange. My brother (who is a righty) kicks a ball with his right. And really, I can kick with both....I just prefer my right.

OK, now everyone needs to tell me what foot they kick a soccer ball with, so that we can know what the 'norm' is. ;)

Hehe, I don't really like playing soccer so I don't know what foot I would kick it with... ;) I think I would agree with your theory. When I was little I was the only Lefty in my class (before I was homeschooled) and they tried to make me use my right hand so they wouldnt have to teach me differentl. I think I turned out ok though ;) :D

LEFTIES ROCK!

As for writing... I tried to write with my foot once, and I think that it looked better than my left-handed writing! :D
