Post subject:  Rate the Name Game

So this is a game I found on another site and being as obsessed about names as I am, I loved it. I will now share it with you.

So this is how it goes:

Person 1: Winterglaze

Person 2: 4/10
Razorquill

Person 3: 7/10
Redwing

ect...

So the ways the name is arranged is pretty easy. Add a suffix and prefix that describe a tangible or intangible characteristic. Kind of like in the Warrior series, if you've read it.

EDIT: Imagine the names are for either animals or tribal races, that tends to work best for these sorts of names. Notify what creature the name is for.

Rating goes 0-10, 0 being lowest and 10 being highest. Feel free to explain why you did or didn't like it.

I'll go first.

Razorquill is a great name!

Emberspots 4/10

It doesn't quite feel right on my tongue...

3/10- How does something slither but walk? I can somewhat see it pertaining to a sneaky character, but something's off...

Shadowflight

Author:  Andorin [ February 11th, 2013, 9:11 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Rate the Name Game

Um... If it is an animal 8/10. Would be a pretty cool giant bird, or dragon, or something!
If it is a person 2/10 I think I would just feel awkward referring to someone called Shadowflight. "Hey, Shadowflight, how are you?" or "Look out! It's Shadowflight!" I just don't see it working very well, sorry.

Oh, sorry...I just reread the original post more carefully.

Grimfrost (instead of Breydon, or I could say Braydawn but that doesn't really work...)

Sorry to throw off the flow of the topic.

Grimfrost. 7/10 if it is for a bad dude, but if it is for a good guy. 4/10

Runningstone.

Runningstone is a 4/10...it doesn't have quite a unique flavor, but it still tastes good.

Redsquare.

Post subject:  Re: Rate the Name Game

Redsquare 2/10 It might make a cool name for a place in a city though! If that were the case I would say 5/10 because it makes my imagination create a cool city square.

You're eating names? o.O

Personally I think these kinds of names are better suited for animals, or tribal races. :3 *goes to edit first post*

Loonsong make me think of a crazy guy singing and laughing so 8/10. I love crazy happy guys. Take a gander boys; Ol' Loonsong's at it again, Ha HA! I never get tired a' watchin' him!

Do they have to be for just Animals or Tribes? Maybe would could put what we think they would be for after the name?

Crystallock or Crystal-lock. Not sure how to spell it. (a fair lady)

Author:  Seabird Mimetes [ February 13th, 2013, 10:07 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Rate the Name Game

I think putting the prefered race after a name helps a lot. Like Loonsong was meant to be a sad and beautiful name for a black and white she-cat. But you took it and made it something I didn't expect at all. o.O

7/10- Sounds like a nice name for a lady. Although the 'lock' part seems a bit... I don't know... Odd to say the least?

Shadowshaft, excellent: 9.7/10
It sort of reminded me of that horse's name, Shadowfax. Although, on the page that name sort of looks like the name of some emo computer geek working at a print shop.

Windrider (Not sure who or what this would be; just sounded like fun)

(I have to admit that I wanted to put Skywalker to see what the response would be).

Dazzleslap: Where do you come up with these? 4/10

Larksong would be about 4, since it seems like I have heard the name a lot, even if I have

A variation of Silverswish could be Silverwish, what do you think? At first I actually thought it was Silver's wish rather than Silver swish.

Mmm, I'll say without detail that would be inappropriate. The first would be a fat old man. The second a youngish person with a lot of chin hair... <-- poke me if that's too detailed... The third was pretty much the same as the first, just a skinny guy.
