I was curious if anyone can recommend an excellent, thorough, professional editor? I'm not too familiar with who has what talents on HW. :D
Let me know here or with a PM if you prefer. Thanks bunches!
Perry

One of the people on the Historical Fiction forum just got a really good, thorough review from someone. I can ask her if you would like.

It really depends on what type of editorial service you're looking for, and, more especially, what your budget is. A professional editor or editorial team will usually charge upwards of a thousand dollars, which, in my opinion, is quite a lot. What I used (Katharina referenced it above) was an editorial evaluation, which provides an overview -- not a page-by-page critique, but basically a six or eight page Word document with detailed notes on the strengths and weaknesses of your book, suggestions for genre and audience, comments on the title, comments on each chapter, and more. It was also affordable for me, although you may or may not find it to be so. Here's the link: https://www.createspace.com/Services/EditorialEvaluation.jsp. Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for the details!
What I'm looking for is a recommendation for someone here on HW who is good at detailed editing and proofing to prepare a manuscript for publication. :)

In that case, it would depend on the length and the deadline, but if all you are looking for is an editor (as opposed to a critiquer), I could do it. Take out some of my frustrations from the Kindle books I've read lately that have had horrible editing. :P I'll pm you.

Bryan Thomas Schmidt is an accredited editor and Christian. Ralene Burke just started a freelance editing service, she's part of New Author's Fellowship.

I use C.L. Dyck, but she's closed to new clients until next year. She has helpful resources on her site http://scienda-editorial.com

I've also used Lane Diamond, co-founder of evolved publishing. http://lanediamond.com

I do detailed edits - grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc - as well as overall story critique. I am a writing tutor at my college and used to do quite a bit of editing here on HW.

So if anyone else is looking for an (paid professional) editor, I'm open.
