I know, I know. This be a writing site, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway for any of you who want to discuss, solve and get better at that thing I'm sure most people would cringe at:

That's right! MATH.

M.A.T.H, I've heard it stands for "Mental Abuse To Humans". To some, it may be just that. o.O

Here you can post your math problems, get help, discuss what kind of math you like best, etc, etc.

E.T.C - "End of Thinking Capacity".

I'm just starting to enjoy math ever since we started a new program called Saxon. :D

Anyway, have fun! :D

Er... well, - I hope you will, anyway. o.O

God bless,

Well, I like working on math problems with my mom. Besides that, I don't like math. A couple years ago, I tried Saxon and didn't like it. At all. It didn't explain very well, and was very dry. :P I did, however, like the Key to Decimals & Key to Percents by the "Key To" company. :D

Which Saxon book did you try out on? Because they all weren't written by John Saxon.

Just wait until you get to the Mole concept. O.O You may not like measurements and units after that... o.O

I'm okay with math, but I don't like how long it takes. I tend to rush through it and make mistakes. I know the concepts, but I don't want to take the time to walk through them. One site I have found very useful is Khan Academy. It's an online "school" sort of thing... basically it's a collection of youtube videos on maaaaaannny different subjects. I do Art History and Geometry with it right now.

Here's the link: http://www.khanacademy.org/ I don't think there's anything bad on the site, but as usual, use caution when going to a new website. ;)

So I'm kind of meh with math right now... but once I get back into the groove of it soon, I think I may do better. *shrugs*

Definition of a logarithm, taken from an online dictionary:

The exponent of the power to which a base number must be raised to equal a given number; log: 2 is the logarithm of 100 to the base 10 (2 = log 10 100).

Edit: The 10 should be subscript but I don't know how to change it. :P

Logarithms are the inverse of exponents. The base x logarithm of y is the power x should be raised to to get y. If that makes sense. It's a little easier to explain if you can write them down properly.

Another attempt to explain it: 10^2 (ten squared) is 100. The base ten logarithm of 100 is 2.

Well, the base 12 logarithm of 144 would be 2. The base ten logarithm would be something more more complicated. But if you take that answer and raise ten to that power, you'd get 144. Does that make sense?

I find it difficult to focus on Math for a long period of time, especially when they want you to show every step of how you got your answer and it's way easier to do it in your head. My teacher didn't believe that I was factoring expressions in my head and thought that I had copied my homework answers from the back of the book.

I like expressions in fractions, because it takes concentration but it's really easy, and I enjoy factoring. My favourite part of math this year, though, was absolute value.

But I hate math tests because I don't do well on them. I think I understand, and I think I've done well, but then I haven't. This tendency seems to have transferred to my Physics class, and I hate it.

I totally think I understand the logarithms. Which is awesome.

:P Same. I don't do that great on math tests, probably because I know that I have to get more than 80%, and if I don't, I fail. :? But I seem to get more than 95%'s in my lessons, so I don't know what the go with me is.
