Post subject:  Who Would You Want to Meet?

This idea popped into my head a couple days ago, and I've been meaning to post it since.

If you could visit with one person from the past (i.e. not living) for an evening, who would it be and why?

Have at it.

*shall return later when he decides who the unfortunate victim would be*

Besides Jesus? ;)

Tough question though. There are multiple Bible characters I'd love to meet. I'd love to meet Laura Ingalls Wilder and Ralph Moody. Also Captain Bowditch. Joan of Arc. Lots of people. :D

C.S. Lewis, no contest.

Meeting Jules Verne would be interesting...

Also Corrie ten Boom. Hellen Keller... Captain Bowditch would be fantastic. It's so hard to choose! I plead an unfair question! ;)

I do think my top one right now would be Jules Verne.

Saint Augustine, definitely.

Second-place might go to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, J.R.R. Tolkien, or John Calvin... idk

I'd love to meet Sir Phillip Sidney. :) I've read so much up about him, so he'd be my first choice.

Jesus is not an option. He is alive.

C.S. Lewis is in the running for me, but it's far from a done deal. I mean, there are a number of Saints I'd like to meet: John Chrysostom, John Maximovitch, John the Theologian, John the Baptist...

And then there are the historical figures who aren't (at least not officially) Saints that I'd also like to meet:

Louis XVI (He should be a Saint, but that's up to Rome)
Baudoin of Belgium (ditto)
Napoleon I

I could go on, but I have to get ready for school.

I actually thought about specifying that, since I knew it would come up. ;)

That would be cool. Or Noah.

I like your taste. ;) I would go with any of those guys.

I still haven't decided yet...

My first pick would be either C.S. Lewis or J. R. R. Tolkien. ^_^

I would visit with my brother, I think. The others are all toss ups. I'm not sure, if I couldn't pick him, who I would pick....

Hmmmm. Interesting (and rather saddening) point.

I think that I'd go with C.S. Lewis as well, because not only was he a writer, and a fantasy writer, and a Christian, and a professor, but he was also an apologist, and was well-versed in the faith. Just sounds like someone you could pick their brain for a whole day and not get bored.

Sherlock Holmes (because there is a debate going on whether or not he was a real-life person, and I believe he was). If not... probably William Wallace.

He was an outlaw and defender of Scottish independence. Defeated the army of Edward I at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Shortly after Wallace's execution, Robert the Bruce was able to re-establish Scotland's independence.

Um...

Charles Spurgeon, an English speaking John Calvin, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones and Leonard Ravenhill.

A very dear pastor, man of God, and friend who passed away yesterday.

Technically, it wouldn't be meeting 'cause I've already done that, but still...
